I gave this book to Amelie, who is six years old, and this is what she said:

This book is funny. It is good for every age. I liked it because the duck pretended he was a dog. The book is so good that I nearly forgot to eat my snack!

This was given to my son as a gift and it quickly became a regular story for bedtime. It is charming, endearing and really quite funny on a level that is enjoyable for both me and my boy.

It is a little quirky and outside of the box, but to me that makes it more special than the standard boilerplate (Disney) books and stories that seem to be everywhere. That this has become a regularly requested story when and considering it is sat along side a mountain of Thomas the Tank Engine books, that is about as strong a review in our house as you can give.

I was reassured to read that ''no ducks were harmed'' in the making of the book, as by the time I had read this story I was fond of the duck at its centre, and of his human friend Henry. I loved the highly original and whimsical illustrations, and the zany storyline. A little boy, Henry, longs for a dog as a pet. He places an advertisement, and.......
What follows is funny and touching. I will reluctantly give this book away to my young grand daughter, hoping that she enjoys its distinctive graphic style and subtle humour as much as I did.

A tale of hopes, dreams, determination, travel and companionship, all brilliantly illustrated with lovely touches that make you smile and tug at the heart strings. It really is a lovely book, I always give it as gifts to friends with young children and they all love it without exception.

This is a super book, with lovely drawings and a good story. My girls loved it, they are 5 and 3. Lots of drawings too, and with some humour for the grown ups. Will be buying it as a birthday present for their friends.
