this candy grabber is a very good buy, 5 Aug 2006
I bought this candy grabber in the week, it comes with plastic tokens, but it takes 5p and 10p and 20p aswell.
I bought some hard boiled sweets in wrappers, some starbursts (opal fruits) and a box of heros (but dont use chocolates in the hot days as they came out a bit soft) I must be honest I didnt intend to make a profit out of my sons friends, but at 10p a go I have covered the cost of my sweets totally already and so far ive only put 1/2 a bag of each variety, the candy grabber plays music and it gets faster and faster to the end, till your time runs out. It is near to a real fairground one yourll get, It is really adictive and lots of fun, you can put toy rings/ neclaces in etc if you were going to use it at a girls party, and im going to put tiny lucky dip parcels in for christmas time, (but obviously will give free plastic tokens to the kids) it is very agile and has the capeability of picking anything up, but like the fairground ones you dont pick up every time, I guess on average 2 pick ups out of 10 (very approx) but it is down to skill too! go and get one today.
thanks for reading this, I hope it was useful.

I bought this item on behalf of my 7 year old son who wanted to spend his birthday money. He first saw something similar in an Argos catelogue for £5 less but I checked the Amazon reviews and spotted that these candy grabbers are not all the same. What looks like the same model in Argos had a bad Amazon review, claiming the strings get all tied up. The one review on this one seemed much better, but cost more money. I explained all this to my son who chose to spend a bit more on a better grabber.
He is delighted with it! He puts wrapped toffees in it and has a great time putting his tokens in and trying for a toffee. Never has he taken so long to get through a bag of sweets! No hint of a tangled string, it works like a dream. I even managed to grab a couple. Not so easy they get bored quickly, but easy enough for an occasional reward. When summer comes, I half expect him to set it up in the front garden to make money from the neighbours!!!
The one in the picture has red trim, the one which arrived was all silver coloured. No problem with that!

Very cute, not endlessly entertaining., 6 Nov 2008

I've had this product for about a year, I haven't used it often, but it looks good sitting in my room - it's shiny and pleasing to the eye.
It's fun to play at 17, and would probably be a lot more fun for a child. Once you've mastered the game it's very easy, but still rewarding to work for your sweets! Plus they last quicker.
The music can get annoying but it's chirpy and I mostly don't mind it.
It's best to play competitively with a partner or with small cousins at Christmas.
Machine works well, has no faults -except- sometimes you have to put in a few of the plastic coins before it starts.
Beware of cheating. The music stops and recorded cheering erupts once you drop the sweet down the chute on the left. BUT sometimes frustrated gamers may set off the sensor with their own fingers, starting the cheering and claiming victory. Bickering ensues.
