Product Description

Product Description

You're trying to write a book; and you're not the next Shakespeare - not yet, anyway. You could be. But no one will ever know if you don't get those marvelous words out on the page (or screen). In easy to do, daily steps and exercises, Mohana breaks down the steps of getting started as a creative writer. From getting past writer's block (excuse of the weak!) to putting that blog to work (every body's got one), the tools of the trade are revealed.

If you've had a story idea in your head for a day, year, (or longer) that it doesn't seem to be writing itself, you may want to take a closer look at this book. Designed as a concise guide for aspiring writers, you'll find here the key principles of how to get started, keep going, and finish a manuscript, all told by a fellow accidental writer who took the long way developing a writer's formula.

3.0 out of 5 stars Traditional Publishing Angle 31 Aug 2012
By Sofia Wren - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
It is not mentioned in the description that this book is focused on the process of traditional publishing. While I'm sure there is information in this book that could be useful to all writers, I plan to self publish.

I would prefer to read a book focusing on epublishing or at least not taking it for granted that I plan to submit my work to a traditional publisher. In today's age it can't be assumed that all writers will choose that route.

This preference is mentioned in the first chapter but it should really be in the description as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great information and sound advice 24 May 2012
By Outsourced Content - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Mohana's book is not just for the traditional writer, bloggers will find this eBook helpful to. I found that the book is excellent for a newbie blogger like me. I like how Mohana described her milestones throughout the book. She's been living abroad as a foreigner in Qatar since 2005, and when she first moved abroad she struggled to fit writing into her life, even when her writing career and dissertation depended on it. I can certainly relate to that. I remember when I transferred from a community college to a university. I did not know anyone at the university and felt lonely. Writer's block consumed me one time when I had a 20 page thesis due in 24 hours and was still 5 pages too short. It's one of the memories I'll never forget and it makes me thankful that I graduated and can say I lived through all that hard work! Mohana talks about how to overcome those obstacles so you meet your goals and get that book or blog post written.

Mahana's eBook talks about how to make it in the real world as a writer. So often new writers venture into the world of writing without a clue, they think all they need to do is write a killer book, blog, or whatever and it will automatically sell. So not true. Unfortunately it takes a lot of time, patience and effort to land a publishing deal unless you know someone in the business, and even then you may not be in luck.

By reading Mohana's book you will learn how to avoid common newbie mistakes, how to overcome writers block, writing during major life changes, how to approach publishers and the appropriate way to send and respond to query letters. So You Want to Sell a Million Copies shows you how to deliver a promising book from its infancy to it landing in a publishers hand.
