5.0 out of 5 stars Chicago's Proud Of JC Brooks And The Uptown Sound! 25 Nov 2011
By Budd Young - Published on Amazon.com
After originally purchasing "Beat of Our Own Drum," I greatly anticipated the release of "Want More," JCBUS' second album, and so I pre-ordered it on here. When it arrived, I was extremely pleased with what I heard. From start to finish, and as the album progresses, I was really impressed by the variety of vivid textures, rhythms, and beats to the music, and to each song. Each piece has its own resonance that stays with you, which to me, is a sign of great music, especially when you can make such a statement about THE ENTIRE ALBUM. It's kind of like when you taste some superb wine that your palate remembers weeks later that just comes back to your senses. Well, it's the same thing with JCBUS, and their music. -What I hear sticks in my ear, and the music stays with me-

Up and up gentlemen- (I can't wait for the third album)

5.0 out of 5 stars This'll make you SHAKE IT 29 Dec 2011

I DARE you to sit through the track "Everything Will Be Fine". And "Baaadnews" is gonna make you swagger. But the best track is the cover of Wilco's "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart." Holy smokes! This is not for background music. This is Soul/Rock to get you out of your chair and shake it like a Bond martini.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love these guys! 7 July 2013

First heard this band via "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart" -- put the video on my blog, and now I stop by and replay it at least four or five times a week. (P.S. Did NOT like Wilco's cover of this song at all. Put me to sleep.)
I grew up in Michigan, a few hours north of Chicago, and love it when they break into the bluesy stuff. (The trombone on "I Am Trying" was just icing on the cake. Do more of the interesting patterns and bridges in between, guys! And keep up the terrific work.
