Product Description

CD Description
Indie duo I Was A Cub Scout release their long awaited debut album 'I Want You To Know That There Is Always Hope'. Hailing from the East Midlands, William Bowerman and Todd Marriott grew up listening to both electronic and emo-punk music. These influences show within their work, making for an effective, diverse and emotive record . Singles include 'Our Smallest Adventures' and 'Pink Squares'.

4.0 out of 5 stars Here at Last, 20 Feb 2008
Following on from the fantastic single releases and having seen IWACS live in Tunbridge Wells recently I have waited for the release of the album with baited breath.

Well here it is, a gem of a debut album, each track bringing IWACS unique style of synth pop and emo to the party...Fantastic.

The singles are there; Echoes, Our Smallest Adventures and of course Pink Squares, all great tracks but the cherry on the top for me is Part iii

If you have heard IWACS and liked what you heard buy this album, you will not be disappointed, even better if you get chance to catch them live, do it now before they get swallowed up and disappear.

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't believe the tripe, 30 April 2008

(REAL NAME)
I've read qiute a lot of negative reviews of this album in the music press, but i can't help thinking that they all wait for the first review to come out before committing themselves. To me this is a great if slghtly flawed debut. Over the years many bands have tried to fuse 'indie' and dance - the Roses (love em obviously), Primal Scream (clumsy as ****) but few have struck the right balance. Most of the tracks here are an anthemic mix of U2 and faithless and to me that's where this album suceeds - it doesn't feel like one style of music fighting againt another, instead it leaves you wanting more. Some of the backing vocals are a bit ham-fisted, but apart from that I think this is a fine debut and leaves room for some interesting developments for a second album. Hopefully the lack of microscopic attention that has dogged acts such as the Arctic Monkeys will leave IWACS free to develop their sound. Oh and by the way why have reviewers jumped onto the EMO bandwagon? if a song has emotion that must be a positive thing?

3.0 out of 5 stars Stick to the Singles, 9 Aug 2008
By mollynew442 (Wolverhampton) - See all my reviews
This album sadly marks the end of IWACS as the band split at the end of their July 2008 tour. IWACS are an indie duo - Will the drummer and Todd the guitarist and vocalist. The sound is a mix of pop and indie with a dance edge thanks to synthesisers and fast drumming. I bought the album after seeing the band live in Wolverhampton. I was blown away and had high expectations of the album. I was immediately disappointed to find that my favourite single "I hate nightclubs" has been left off the album although the other releases "We were made to love", "Pink Squares", "Our smallest Adventures" are here. My greatest fear before listening to the album was that the new material on the album would pale alongside the singles and this unfortunately is the case. Aside from the aformentioned singles there are for me few stand out tracks. "Lucean" and "Recommendations" are weak and the IWACS sound does become monotonous as the eleven tracks seem to merge into each other. They were a great live act but the album has unfortunately failed to capture everything that made the band so exciting. All in all if you haven't got the singles it's worth buying otherwise download Nightclub and Adventures.
