My daughter Jessica, two and a half loved the main character - the little Princess who is learning to say 'please' and 'thank you' throughout the book. The illustrations are interesting with lots of points for discussion with a small child. The hardback pages are durable so Jessica can look at the book alone. It is clear that this book is now her favourite - to the point that when she requests it at storytime, I turn the page and she can remember the words!

This is the first of the Tony Ross books we bought our daughter (aged 2) and we have gone on to buy many more. This book is funny and imaginative with eyecatching and endearing illustrations. The use of repetitive text is helpful for language development. We have all come to know and love 'the little princess' in our family, can't get enough of her!

The little princess books are funny and my 2 yr old's favourites. The art work is great and there are few words to each page so there is plenty of discussion about the pictures which she loves. My daughter especially likes this one; but for those who don't know the little princess she is a rather rude and demanding little lady, so I find it important to really EMPHASISE the moral and the 'good' parts of the story. 'I want my dinner' is about learning to say please (even though it doesn't teach her to say I'd like, or may I have rather than I want!)

My son is 3 and has Autism and trying to get him to sit still long enough and be interested in books until now had been a chore. He loves this book! He knows it almost word for word and enjoys the fact that the little princess shows a variety of emotions in the book. He watches the programme on channel 5 and so can relate a lot. I am getting some more of these books because they are easy to understand and fun for kids! Plus it teaches manners such as please and thank you.

My 2 year old daughter loves the Little Princess books, at the moment she's obsessed with I Want My Mum so we haven't got into this one so much yet, but we have read it and she definitely enjoyed it as she has all the Princess books.
