'Wanderlust', with themes of love, longing, family, mental illness, gender identity and sexuality is a beautifully written, emotional, honest and insightful collection of poetry. More than that, it takes the reader on a journey through the 'moments' the 'hours' and the 'times' in life which are so complex, so significant, so transforming that one must stop and take notice of them, or for the author - must write. The collection as a whole is neither a beginning or an ending, but rather and opening, a create space, a forum in which that which is most pleasurable and painful in our growing can be brought forward, examined and discussed. Sia Jane Lloyd invites the reader to share in her experiences and observations and ultimately encourages personal reflection.

The work is incomparable in many ways - but lovers of contemporary poets such as Carol Ann Duffy, Andrea Gibson, Sophie Hannah and Sierra Demulder are likely to find delight in 'Wanderlust'.

When I had a quiet moment to sit down and read Wanderlust, I had barely made it through the first paragraph of Lloyd’s first poem, Where is My Mind, before I sat and had an emotive, long, much needed cry. And that is how I can explain this beautiful collection of poetry. Emotive.

It feels very much as if each word has been very intricately chosen and well thought out, yet at the same time is packed with so much depth and feeling that it seems like it’s come straight from the heart. Sia succeeds with words, certainly, but also the structure of her poetry is extremely well thought out and a pleasure to look at as well as read.

It’s been truly wonderful to reconnect with Sia as a friend as of late and just idolise the extreme progression she has made in her writing. Sia writes on subjects so raw and yet you can almost feel the pain seeping through the pages and touching you from within. Only an artist coming from experience could have written so poignantly on such topics, and this collection of poems doesn’t just symbolise success and talent, which it truly does, it symbolises development, recovery, and the evolution of oneself.

As a new reader of poetry I found this book enlightening. Sia Jane takes you on a journey as she shares a myriad of emotions: sometimes raw, sometimes perhaps uncomfortable but always honest and compelling. Sia Jane draws the reader in and allows them to accompany her, using her poetic creativity to provide a real insight into her world.

Wanderlust is not just a poetical journey but an insight into the mind of a young woman with a golden heart. Reading this book will open your mind to the darkest of experiences and thoughts a human soul can imagine but it will also show you the extent of love and compassion one truly amazing person, Sia Jane can have in her heart.
