I have just received a reply to my email from Warners UK & they have confirmed to me that there will be no more Waltons seasons past season 4.
So you will have to buy it from the US (Region 1) or perhaps from amazon.de (Region 2). The only things against the German choice is the packaging & the cost, the dvd's are in English/German with English/German subtitles. The US version with English packaging would look nicer, & works out a bit cheaper but there are no English subtitles only closed captions - which can be seen using a closed caption reader or some PC software such as PowerDVD.
NEWER INFORMATION
All the rest of The Waltons Seasons 6-9 & The Waltons Movies all have English subtitles.
Seasons 5,6,7,9 & The Waltons Movies play on my Panasonic dvd recorder (unhacked region 2) so you should be able to play them on any player. Unfortunately season 8 won't so you will need a multi region player or a cheap player that can be altered to multi region - usually with the player remote & some information from the internet on how to do it!!
The reason I say a cheap player is because the big brand names, Sony, Panasonic etc make it much, much harder to do.
Or you can play a different region dvd on your PC providing that you have a software player installed.
UK PC users please be aware, that when you play a different region dvd in your drive, that will count as a change & you only get 5 in total. Whatever your 5th change is will be permanent (unless you are a PC wizkid & can find a way to reverse the change).
If you have already alternated different region dvd's in your drive & want to know how many changes left do the following:
1. Right click your dvd drive in My Computer
2. Select Properties from the list
3. Select the hardware tab
4. Highlight the dvd drive (not your hard drive)
5. Click on properties
6. Select DVD Region
You will now see information telling you about changes & how many you have left.

BEING A WALTON FAN MYSELF SINCE THE 70s I ALSO HAVE BEEN COLLECTING THE SERIES AND WAS DISHEARTENED TO DISCOVER THAT AREA 2 STOPS AT SERIES 4. HOWEVER, WHEN I READ THE REVIEWS HERE I THOUGHT, WELL I MIGHT AS WELL BUY AN AREA 1, AS I DO HAVE A DVD PLAYER THAT IS OPEN TO ALL AREAS. (THIS ISN'T DIFFICULT. JUST TYPE YOUR DVD PLAYER MAKE AND MODEL AND OPEN TO ALL AREA CODES ONTO GOOGLE AND SOMEWHERE SOMEONE WILL HAVE TYPED THE CODE AND WHAT TO DO. USUALLY OPEN THE DVD DRAWER, TYPE NUMBER ON REMOTE, CLOSE DRAWER AND THEN IT WORKS. THE CHEAPER THE DVD MODEL THE EASIER IT IS TO "OPEN") I HAVE AN OPEN DVD PLAYER BUT IT ISN'T THE NORMAL ONE I USE. I THEN BOUGHT A SERIES 5 FROM "ALL YOUR MUSIC" WHICH SAID IT WAS AREA 1. WHEN IT ARRIVED I THOUGHT I WOULD TRY IT IN MY USUAL DVD PLAYER AND TO MY COMPLETE SURPRISE. IT WORKED!!!!!!! ON THE BACK WHERE THE AREA CODE IS WRITTEN IT DOES SAY "NOT RATED" I'M NOT SURE IF THAT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT. BUT MY WALTONS SERIES 5 AREA 1 DEFINATELY WORKED ON MY DVD PLAYER THAT ONLY PLAYS AREA 2. SO THERE IS SOME VERY GOOD NEWS. HOPE YOU ARE ALL LUCKY. REGARDS CINDY X

The Waltons respresent an oral history that finds echoes in many countries where a simpler lifestyle has now been largely eroded. We should pay heed to the lessons Earl Hamner related to us from Virginia, they may appear too simple and naive for the sophisticates of the early 21st century but look, listen and learn what true happiness is.

Not quite sure
When I got this it was fine to begin with up until one of the discs got stuck I played it on a TV where you slide the DVD in at the side which ruined the disc. Read more

Another way around Region 1 DVDs
On holiday in the USA we bought a PS3 (US model), which is much cheaper than in the UK. But PS3 is a worldwide standard, so for the gaming it doesn't make a difference. Read more

New boxed Set was well packaged and delivered well within time. The recipient informs me it is good.

Great series but picture quality poor.
The DVD is fine, but as it uses the American NTSC (No Two of the Same Colours;o), don't expect a great quality as it has not been digitally remastered.

Get a multiregion DVD Player
Its no good hoping that all series will be developed for region 2 players...simple solution get a multi-region DVD player.
