Walter Tull - An inspirational read that is a must for everyone.
Not only does this book tell the remarkable life story of this pioneering man who overcame adversity to achieve so much in his life but also gives an insite into the world in which he struggled to overcome many barriers with dignity and acceptance.

This is a real eye-opening book. We know there has been vicious racism for centuries, and in the 'beautiful game' too, but the (almost) first black pro footballer was a victim of this in 1910 and then of the German guns, after he had got past the Army's rules and racism to become an officer. An amazing story - and a few things in there about my grandfather too!

With a body of evidence Rumpole of the Bailey would find difficult to refute, it calls upon the MoD to posthumously award Tull his Military Cross.
