We have some good detective programmes in Britain, but Wallander "knocks the socks off" most of them. It is so well crafted, excellent cast, excellent locations and of course excellent storylines.Wallander likes his drink and his opera, but thats where his similarity to Morse ends. His relationship with his staff and his daughter are very real.In "The Village Idiot" where he sits by his daughters bed in their house, with her childhood posters above the bed, although she is a grown up woman, he looks at her as a father would his young child and says quietly "I'm not going to cry" makes Wallander very human. The series is well worth it, although Branagh's performance was good, these have such a nice quality about them. Violence, humour, edge of the seat storylines it has it all.If you haven't seen Henrickssons performance, you have missed a treat.
