Product Description

Album Description

Original Music Composed by Julian Nott, Rupert Gregson-Williams, James Michael Dooley, Lorne Balfe and Alastair King. Album produced by Hans Zimmer.

It's 'vege-mania' in Wallace and Gromit's neighborhood, and our two enterprising chums are cashing in with their humane pest-control outfit, "Anti-Pesto." With only days to go before the annual Giant Vegetable Competition, business is booming, but Wallace & Gromit are finding out that running a "humane" pest control outfit has its drawbacks as their West Wallaby Street home fills to the brim with captive rabbits. Suddenly, a huge, mysterious, veg-ravaging "east" begins attacking the town's sacred vegetable plots at night, and the competition hostess, Lady Tottington, commissions Anti-Pesto to catch it and save the day. Lying in wait, however, is Lady Tottington's snobby suitor, Victor Quartermaine, who'd rather shoot the beast and secure the position of local hero - not to mention Lady Tottingon's hand in marriage. With the fate of the competition in the balance, Lady Tottington is eventually forced to allow Victor to hunt down the vegetable chomping marauder. Little does she know that Victor's real intent could have dire consequences for her ... and our two heroes.

Having previously scored the Academy Award-winning Wallace and Gromit short films A Close Shave (1995) and The Wrong Trousers (1993), composer Julian Nott and his team mates return with a wondrous and energetic score for orchestra and choir.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cracking CD, Gromit, 12 Oct 2005

It seems like I have been waiting for a W&G film forever. Why, You may ask? Because I have been chomping at the bit for a Wallace and Gromit CD!

It was well worth the Wait! Every cue on this album is Golden! My only complaint is why did Hans Zimmer have to get involved? He seems to take Mr. Nott's thunder away from him! And why did they need some other Composers as well? As evident in the classic shorts, Nott is a very accomplished composer. Maybe He needed some assistance for an exhausting work load. Oh well.

Despite the above gripes,I think this is one of the best soundtracks in years. I especially like "Fire up the Bunvac", "Brainwash and Go", "A Big Trap", and "Dogfight", not to mention the closing cue, "Wallace and Gromit", which is of course the wonderful and completely catchy theme from the aforementioned shorts. Indeed, my Dad was humming that tune for three days after seeing the film!

I heartily recommend this album as well as the movie. Nicely Done!

5.0 out of 5 stars SMASHING!, 17 Oct 2005
By Richard S. Parker - Published on Amazon.com

What a wonderful gift to the world: Wallace and Gromit. Those of us who have been fans for years have known this for a while. Know the whole world will know. The films is a blast. The soundtrack brings that blast home (well, at least until the DVD comes out; and, even then it'll still be great to wash the dishes or mop the floors to this CD). The music brings back all the fun of the film. I can't help comparing this CD to the last animated film soundtrack CD I bought: The Incredibles. While the music for the Incredibles was good, it was terribly derivative, borrowing too freely and too often from the Bond movies. Nott has not (no pun intended) fallen into that trap (again, no pun intended . . . see the film). This music is fresh and original . . . of course, the Wallace and Gromit theme insinuates itself several times, but we wouldn't want it any other way. Buy this soundtrack.

5.0 out of 5 stars Expresses the Movie Perfectly!, 8 Nov 2005

I saw this movie on opening night and I loved it. I am a big fan of British humor. The music in the film is delightful! Each piece matches the scene it corresponds with. This is a great cd (and movie) to check out!
