The mug came badly packed in a cardboard tub which is too small for the mug itself. This meant the lid had to be forced down onto the mug and didn't fit properly. Although the tub appears larger than the mug in the image it seems that the photo is a composite of two images and not simply a shot of the mug in front of it's container. If you look closely at the image you will see some faint cross hatched lines running over each decal. To me this looks like a flaw in the printing process but actually turns out to be a design feature. I imagine it is done to try to give the mug a 'retro' feel. In this it fails completely and simply looks like the printing of the two faces has not worked or has been badly scratched. Everyone I showed the mug to commented that it was nice but 'what a shame about the terrible flaw in the decals'.
