Product Description

Review

"Recommended to all pain management specialists for its exhaustive coverage of the subject. Also useful to Anesthesiologists, Neurologists and Sport Medicine specialists (physicians and therapists). Further recommended as a teaching text in any course that delves into ways that the physician should address both acute and chronic pain complaints. Finally, recommended to all Health Science libraries as a general reference text." "The Electronic Review", January/February 2006

Product Description

Pain management is a distinct and growing area of clinical medicine that encompasses many diverse components from other medical and scientific specialties. "Wall and Melzack's Textbook of Pain" provides the researcher and physician with an authoritative and comprehensive overview of almost every aspect of pain whether it be basic science or clinical. Divided into three sections: Basic Aspects, Clinical States, and Therapeutic Aspects, the book deals with the neurophysiology, psychology and measurement of a wide range of pain syndromes (chronic back pain, cancer pain, head pain, obstetric pain) as well as the pharmacologic, surgical, electrostimulative, physiotherapeutic and psychological management of pain. The title was highly commended at the 2006 BMA Medical Book Competition.

The supplier did not disclose that in addition to the price stated to be payable for the Book (including delivery), an import duty would be payable by reason of the sourcing of the Book by the supplier. In the result, the Book cost an additional Euro 24.80 (more than the advertised price) in respect of Customs Import VAT + 2 per cent surcharge.

This is sharp and entirely unacceptable practice. It does not reflect well on Amazon either.

Early impression 2 April 2006
Format:Hardcover
I have just started reading this book and I have already noticed quite a few typos plus some syntax and grammar errors. This is a bad sign if it's noticed so early. I hope it's not infested with errors! Given that this book costs a small fortune especially for young researchers/junior doctors this is unacceptable.

An essential textbook fof pain clinicians 21 May 2007
By Katsumi Tashiro - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I love this textbook.

This is quite different from ancient textbooks on pain clinic.

Furhtermore, this book describes metabolism of the brain in references to pain.

I would suggst that every pain clinician buy it and read all of this book.

Arrived on time, in good shape. 13 Jan 2011
By -W - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
What more can you say about a book? It arrived in a reasonable amount of time. Was in good shape (like new). And most important (to me) was that it was what I was looking for (i.e. correct edition, language, etc.).
