These are very expensive compared with the £2.50 El-Cheapo mini stools you get from camping shops, but largely speaking you get what you pay for. The Walkstool is made in Sweden and is very good quality. This stool extends to nearly double its storage length which gives a much more comfortable sitting height. Similarly, the large area of seat material also greatly improves comfort. Although I rated it 5-stars, it is not perfect. If you extend the legs too quickly, you can overcome the end-stop and the leg detaches. This is a minor inconvenience as the legs are designed to be removable so they can be replaced if need be. Spare legs are available - at least from the manufacturers. The only worrying aspect is that the instructions warn about uneven loading of the legs on uneven ground, which could cause a leg to bend (and therefore need replacing). I do not know how easy it is to suffer this mishap as I have always been careful in this respect. The loads that this stool can take (250kg, if I remember correctly) is vastly better than the El-Cheapo stools mentioned earlier, one of which suffered a catastophic failure of the seat material, neatly dumping me backwards onto the ground. This incident is what led me to investigate better stools, and so far I have not regretted buying a Walkstool.

After having a cheap folding stool collapse under me, depositing me into a gorse bush and nearly removing vital parts of my anatomy, I decided I needed something that would support my weight. The Walkstool promised to be the solution and it has, indeed, turned out to be almost perfect. Its great when out birdwatching and at festivals. Its light weight and small, collapsed, size means I'll take it with me if I suspect I may need it.

Lets get a bit of physics sorted first. If you happen to weigh 175kg and you sit down on ths stool you will initially impart more force than your resting mass. So don't be surprised a stool rated for 220kg collapses - its trying to tell you something. This is essential equipment for wildlife photograpers. You can sit on one of these waiting for critters to show for hours.

Having used and carried other stools while hill walking this is by far the best. It is more compact, lighter and has a larger seat area then the most expensive fixed leg stool previously tried. As an older walker who gave up stting on mats on the ground and having others witness my embarrassment of then getting up with much difficulty, a stool became a must. I am very pleased I bought this stool as it has made breaks a more enjoyable rest.

I bought a £3 stool and it lasted 6 uses.this one feels much stronger, only used it 3 times but no signs of wear.
It folds up small enough to fit in a rucksack
It's comfortable for the outdoors (but it aint no sofa)
It still sinks into the ground like the cheap one
the legs can pull all the way out, but they do lock in both the open and closed position
It is not height adjustable and this one at 60cm is fairly high (I'm 6ft),but that works out well after you sink 6 inches
At the £30 I paid I think it is worth the money. In 6 months time I will revise to 5 stars if it is still going strong.

I have a Walkstool Comfort 75 which I bought for when I go away camping on my motorbike as I weigh 22 stone so needed something very strong.

My walkstool was fine at first but someone sat on my lap while I was on it so now the little red buttons are retracting on their own which makes the stall slowly start to collapse which is not ideal as I have to keep getting up and pulling the legs back out and reclicking them in place.

I have just ordered a new set of 3 red springs from the walkstool site for 3 pounds including shipping so will try these and hopefully it will solve the problem as I think the problem I am having is due to the rounded buttons getting rounded off by all that weight.

Other than that the stool is fine and quite a comfortable seat if you are tall as you can sit on it without your knees being too bent.

Very pleased with this item and dispatched quickly. The stool is light enough to carry around and tall enough to sit on and rise from easily - my husband needs to rest at regular itervals due to health problem.

This is a great product available in a number of sizes. Being on the tall side, I needed the 75cm high model and am happy with the stool which has come in very handy when i am out and about and I am able to sit comfortably in venues where I struggled before because the seats were too low. Only minus point is that the seat pad does arch downwards which can reduce your sitting height, but I had allowed for this in the height of seat purchased. Like most portable seats, these seats are not designed to be used for lengthy periods - which is fine for me as I need to stand up every now and then to prevent the base of my spine "locking" - usually about every 15/20 mins or so.
