What a discovery this book is - it opens your eyes to new corners of the Dales that don't get explored as much as the more popular areas but which are just as beautiful, if not more so. The route descriptions are excellent in a very easy to read style with nice illustrations. There are also descriptions of the history and the region around the walk.
So if you think you know the Dales, buy this book and think again !

As a newby to following written walking guides I have found Jack Keighleys guides very easy to use,with really good information on not just the path you take, but on the the surrounding countryside as well. He has thought of all the info you may need and gives good tips and advice, such as when a walking stick would be really usefull due to slippery ground etc. I would still take OS map with me though.

Very useful litle book, with lots of "well I didn't know that" gems added to the walk information. The walks are not too long (max 7 miles),detailed and could be followed without an OS map, but a map is recommended and map numbers quoted. Some of the details are now out of date such as stiles/gates removed and some paths diverted, but nothing that cannot be overcome with a little common sense. A gradient profile for each walk would have been a useful addition, but a book to be recomended.

A very honest and well put together little book
I came accross an earlier version of this book in a Dales holiday cottage and loved it, so I bought this one and I have used it many times.
