* Background information about sights and sites on each route

* Côtes d'Armor, formerly known as Côte du Nord, is the department of Brittany that includes the central section
of the north coast and its hinterland. Here one finds scenes as diverse as the famous Pink Granite Coast, the
high Landes de Liscuis, or the chaos of the river Gouët. There is much of historic interest and walking is the
ideal way to explore and absorb the atmosphere of some amazing places, as varied as a hill-top collection of
neolithic burial chambers, a medieval leper colony, or the scene of clandestine operations in WW2. Background
information is included in the description of each walking route, for the benefit of those who like to know more
about where they've walked, or where they might walk next.
For those who just like to enjoy the scenery while taking some gentle exercise, Côtes d'Armor will not
disappoint. The countryside is rich, heavily wooded, with deep valleys, rushing rivers and dramatic rock
outcrops: try the Gorges du Toul Goulic or along the Rance near Guenroc. Coastal walks include the high cliffs
of Plouha, the Bay of St-Brieuc and Cap Fréhel, while the historic towns of Treguier, Guingamp, Lamballe and
Dinan are also explored on foot.

Excellent Guide 27 Sep 2009
Format:Paperback
I have just got back from a week's holiday in Cotes d'Armor and this book was invaluable. We went on one of the 36 walks in the book each day (mainly on the coast or town walks) and all were good. Of course we were helped in our enjoyment by generally good weather, but, if you are looking for a book of walks in this area, I can certainly recommned this one. The route descriptions are very clear, the maps easy to follow and accurate and the walks themselves well crafted. There is also background information about points of interest along each route.

Walk 19 20 Feb 2010
Format:Paperback
Simply flicking through this guide book was inspirational. I was immediately attracted to the gradient profiles and decided on Walk 19: St-Martin-des-Prés partially based on the profile. I prefer to get the ups done early in the walk.

The tracks mentioned in the directions are mostly grassy and wide, ideal for group walking. The lake side is just delightful, under the shade of trees. The road sections were very quiet.

I particularly liked the inclusion of - at top and at bottom in the directions. I was pleasantly surprised at the accuracy and clarity of such a small map. With the direction numbers marked it was clear to me precisely where I was. At the only point were I did wonder, the helpful hint - look for the spire ... was reassuring.

I diverted to chapel St-Jean and St-Roch, taking a refreshment break at St-Jean, at a picnic table in the shade. Including these, I completed the walk in three hours and enjoyed every step.

Overall, I found the instructions very easy to follow, the colouring being most useful, the description of the walk, the time, the profile and the level were spot-on. I confidently look forward to using this guide again, soon.
