Product Description

Book Description

The Ulster Way, a long-distance footpath of some 500 miles, makes a complete circuit of Northern Ireland, taking in the dramatic North Coast, the Sperrins, the lakes and hills of Fermanagh, the remote Cuilcagh Mountains and the Mournes. Alan Warner was the first person to walk the Way in its entirety, and in this entertaining and informative account of his pioneering journey we see, in the words of The Countryman, `rural Ulster away from the newspaper headlines: a peaceful varied landscape with warm and friendly people'.

This revised edition has been expanded to include an account of the author's walk along Sl'Ulaidh (the Ulster Way in Donegal), which links with the Ulster Way at Pettigoe village and runs north through much magnificent and desolate countryside. Accounts of other extended walks in the Inishowen and Fanad peninsulas, Glenveagh National Park and in West Donegal are also included here for the first time.

'Walking the Ulster Way' contains over 40 maps detailing the routes and includes much practical advice, not only on the walks themselves, but also on accommodation, places of interest en route, and other essential information for walkers.

Fascinating book! A look back in time. Good read about the only public right of way in Northern Ireland - the Ulster way. Good for walkers and people interested in Northern Ireland/history.
