Product Description
"Walking in Provence" provides an excellent selection of over 40 walks in this popular area. Covering the Alps Maritimes, Var, Vaucluse and northern Provence, the suggested walks are of short and medium length. Each walk is fully described and illustrated with a sketch map and photographs. Local information of interest to the walker is thoroughly researched, and each walk captures the very essence and atmosphere of life in Provence. There are 42 walks of short and medium length all with clear, accurate descriptions of the routes and detailed maps to accompany them. There is also practical information for the visitor as well as the historical and cultural background to the area. None of the walks in this book goes higher than 2000 metres and many of them are considerably lower. They are generally within the capability of an averagely fit person and are graded Difficult, Medium or Easy. The comments after the grading should give a good idea as to whether the walk is suitable for you.
About the Author
Janette Norton has lived with her physicist husband, Alan, in the Geneva region for over 30 years, raising four children and working in the marketing field. Her love of mountain walking dates from the time she was a guide in her twenties, and the proximity to her home of the Alps and the Jura has enabled her to continue her passion. Now her family has grown up, she has branched out to walk in other areas of France such as Provence, the Cevennes and the Dordogne. This is Book 1 of the two-volume second edition of her first book, Walking in the Haute Savoie.
