Product Description

Review

"Ollie is trouble. But he is also a joy. So is reading about him. Walking Ollie is the best book about a dog for... let us say eight years." Roy Hattersley, Guardian" --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

New Statesman, August 30, 2007

An intriguing meditation on fame and posterity. A thoughtful novel that stands out in a world of identikit publishing. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Lovely Story 19 Mar 2007
Format:Hardcover
A lovely short book on the trials and tribulations of settling into life with Ollie, a rescue dog who had the misfortune to experience a terrible start in life, which clearly had an impact on his psyche. It is not as detailed as the book Marley and Me by John Grogan but is just as lovely a story.

Worth a read! 8 Aug 2006
Format:Hardcover
We've all heard the saying `never judge a book by its cover'. Well it's certainly apt with this book. The cartoon style cover made me think that it would just be another `chick flick' style book (not the sort of book I enjoy all that much), so I originally by-passed this book in the book store.

I nearly made the same mistake once before with a book called Shakespeare My Butt! which turned out to be nothing much ado about Shakespeare at all, but instead was a fabulously funny read about the life and times of the author (John Donoghue), his new puppy (Barney), as well as a whole host of other very entertaining digressions.

I'm glad I finally picked up Walking Ollie and began reading it. It's not a `chick flick' book at all, but a lovely account of a new owner and his heart winning dog who could also be quite a nuisance at times. Although not as funny as I had hoped, it's nonetheless an enjoyable read - especially if you have a penchant for books that remind you of the trauma of adjusting to life with your new four-legged friend!

All in all, I hope I've learned my lesson and will in future give books with uninspiring covers or weird titles a second glance - they can turn out to be surprisingly wonderful reads.

Very enjoyable 5 Mar 2008
Format:Paperback
Having read Marley and Me, i was a bit apprehensive about the book, but i found it had been well written and had me in stitches, as some have said it is not as good as Marley and Me, i felt it wrong to compare the two books together, the same as the breeds, Labradors and Lurchers are completely different in looks as well as characteristics, having looked after a friends, who in many respects was like Stephen Foster's. I was able to enjoy this book and understand the trials and tribulations that he went throught with Ollie, and if there is a follow on about Ollie and Dylan it will be a definate buy for me.

Walking Ollie
A lively but often frustrating account of this mad but lovable dog. At times the descriptions of his antics are quite hilarious.
