I have an apartment in the Haute Savoie so this book seemed a good idea... and it is. However, most of the paths are very well marked and frankly, if you stick to these main paths you don't need a book. You can get really useful tourist maps from the local tourist information offices... for free!

Great book. The walks are easy to follow. They are graded as easy or medium when I think most people would find them hard! Also the writer is clearly not a skier as she is quick to disparage the ski installations that scar the landscape (according to her). If you can put up with the slightly judgmental and school teacher tone then this book is really excellent for good circular walking routes! We're not great walkers and the timings were accurate...sometimes we beat them.
