A guidebook to 40 circular walks in the north of England in two of Lancashire's largest Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty - the Forest of Bowland, an area of 310 square miles (800km), and the bewitching' countryside of Pendle to the south. These areas provide vastly differing terrain - from the lush farmlands of the Ribble valley to the more rugged rough pastures of the Forest of Bowland uplands and the huge boggy uplifts of the main Bowland massif itself. It's all wonderfully wild walking country. This routes, which are suitable for walkers with navigational skills, include four 'Marilyns' - Ward's Stone, Pendle Hill, Longridge Fell and Fair Snape Fell. All walks are illustrated with OS mapping and colour photos, and provide information on the natural and cultural history of the region - from wild flowers to witches.
About the Author
Terry Marsh specialises in the outdoors, the countryside, walking and travel worldwide. He is author of 40+ books including the award-winning Cicerone guides to the Northern Coast to Coast Walk (1994 and 2003) and the Shropshire Way (1999), and guides to the Pennine Way, the Dales Way, the Severn Way and the West Highland Way.

Only done a couple of walks from this book so far. I like the style of the book ie photos, bits of OS map included and some information/jistory on places visited but I have found some of the directions to be outdated eg field boundaries have changed. With a bit of common sense I have found my way and overall I think the book is good value.
