5.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing 26 Jun 2014
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Far too Americanised for the BBC to claim a part in it, but fun nonetheless. The photography and effects are excellent, but it is no different in storyline from Disney's "Dinosaur." I can see why it didn't go down all that well as a result.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too childish for my personal taste 27 May 2014
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Great movie for a seven-year old. I however found the story-telling and voices most annoying. Story is fine, grapichs are neat. The product arrived swiftly and in great condition. I will probably never watch it again, but I don't regret buying it as I missed it in the theaters.

2.0 out of 5 stars A great idea, but poorly delivered 1 May 2014
Format:Blu-ray
The study of dinosaurs is a fascinating subject. I applaud the idea of showing an animation about these pre historic creatures. Deliverly weighs greater importance than ideas and animation. To be frank, I found the animation incredibly dull and annoying when expectations were so high. It lacks the comical and quirkiness of animations designed for kids.It is very slow paced. There is a lack of excitement to maintain interest levels. It is a struggle to really engage with the animation. Walking with dinosaurs shows plenty of potential. Lack of planning has damaged of what potentially could have propelled to a great animation. I found the voices irritating and getting on my nerves. I found it strange there is no mouth movement at all in the characters. The CGI is first class, but it does not compensate of what could have been good. Kids would find this boring. I just could not get into it. There are better animations. This is by far the weakest I have seen.

Bought for my 4 and 5 year old grandsons. The older one is learning about dinosaurs this term at school. They were absorbed by it and sat and watched it straight through with great concentration and enjoyment. The graphics were good and I was glad that it didn't over sweeten the creatures, as I wanted them to see a realistic view of Dinosaurs not an overly personified one. I was glad that the mouths didn't move on the talking dinosaurs for the same reason. as it was more obvious that it was people putting the words onto the creatures rather than them actually talking themselves . For providing some education but with a entertaining story to hold their attention it couldn't be bettered. I enjoyed it too and I think it will be watched quite a few more times .

5.0 out of 5 stars fab for the dinosaur crazy! 6 Jun 2014
By Sarah
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
My 3 and a half year old loves this. It is a fab film. The graphics are so good you have to remind yourself it is not a nature program in some bits! The dinosaurs talk but their mouths don't match the words if you get what I mean. I watch it with him as it could be a bit scary (dinosaurs fighting and trying to catch/eat each other but not in a gory way) but he hasn't seemed scared by it. Recommended for anyone who loves their dinosaurs.

1.0 out of 5 stars An insult to the entire "Walking With..." saga 8 May 2014
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Quite why this wasn't made as a documentary, and was made without any connection to Impossible Pictures, I shall never know!

Even with the fact that it ISN'T A DOCUMENTARY taken out of the picture, it is still a terrible film!
The character development is unrealistic, the plot is weak and predictable, and while there are some truly touching moments in the film, these moments are talked over by an irritating Mexican bird who NEVER SHUTS UP!

I honestly cannot work out what they were thinking of with that damn bird! They never explain what the character of Alex really is, they just have him as some kind of time-travelling, shape-shifting, time-travelling talking rook/Alexornis, who randomly tells a kid (played by that guy who played Peter Pan in Neverland, who really didn't bother to act in this film at all) the story of the fossil his uncle found and gave to him.

Also, there are too many 'poo', 'snot' and 'vomit' jokes, which are often gross, and invariably fall flat.

The ONLY good thing about this film is the effects, but the awful screenplay and irritating characters prevent me from giving it any more than one star. Time to hope that the BBC doesn't go and get Fox to ruin Walking With Beasts next...
