Hit and miss 9 April 2014
By Quinton Moss - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
This soundtrack is a hit and miss. It's a hit because it allows fans to get a taste of the great licensed music used in the show. The miss is that it's not the prime cuts or more iconic songs featured in season 4. In fact, two songs weren't even in the show itself at all.

"Heavy Games" is from a season 4 promo video. Very odd decision on AMC's part to include it.

Sharon Van Etten's "Serpents" is a standout track. It's the song that played as Rick left Carol behind in the episode "Indifference." This song is one of the most memorable moments of the show, so I'm thankful it was included.

"Blackbird Song" from American Idol's Lee DeWyze is also from one of my favorite show moments; the flashback scene with Bob in the episode "Alone." Knowing that DeWyze allegedly wrote the song after watching an episode of TWD is just... cool. It evokes the same emotion that Jamie N Commons' "Lead Me Home" from the season 3 episode, "Clear." Quite awesome indeed.

"Be Not So Fearful" is another great moment from season 4. It plays when the first group arrives at Terminus in the episode "Us." It's a phenomenal Bill Fay cover on its own, but it added such a layer of hope to this part of the season. Very neat track.

"This Old Death" is a beautiful song. I have no clue why it's here, however. I wonder if AMC had a hard time securing the rights to Ben Nichols' other song featured in the series. That leads me to my final statement.

So many iconic songs are not here! Two of my favorite songs from season 4 were "Oats in the Water" by Ben Howard (Hershel's song) and "The Last Pale Light in the West" (the oddly unfeatured Ben Nichols song that played during "Live Bait"). Those were epic, showstopping moments in season 4. Also unfeatured is The Mountain Goats' "Up The Wolves" (featured in "Still").

I can understand why The Stanley Brothers' "Precious Memories" and The Ink Spots' "Maybe" were left off; they were incidental, and even though they're lovely songs, they don't fit the indie vibe most of the songs have had on the show.

Last year's soundtrack had 8 songs, why couldn't this one?

Love It But Way Too Short 10 Jun 2014
By Ladybug - Published on Amazon.com

Love It, But Way Too Short. I love all the songs on this extremely short CD. Again, the best song, the original Bear McCreary theme is missing. Lee Dewyze's Blackbird Song is absolutely AMAZING. His voice is so hypnotic. I loved him on AI. Heavy Games by Portugal, the Man is a great apocalyptic song, and fits this series. I wish they would give us a complete CD with all the music from each season. Four seasons and only 13 songs. Really??? This series has been brilliant in their wicked choices of music. I just wish they would share more with us Walking Dead fans.

An evocative "little cd" BUT 11 Aug 2014
By Vickie Smith - Published on Amazon.com

If y you go to The Walking Dead Fan site, you will see a note about a soundtrack cd that comes ONLY if you order the DVD from Season 4 from Wal-Mart! It looks like it has a lot more songs on it. However at this point I have already pre-ordered the Blu-ray from Amazon. What is more , I refuse to buy anything from Wal-Mart. Especially our local Wal-Mart, which I half-humorously believe to be built over some burial site and thus infused with bad juju, or some kind of really bad energy. But that is not the only reason..I know amazon has had bad labor issues as well. But this feels like blackmail . As to the music on the "little cd", it's wonderful. Though only two of the songs are really from the show..the rest is very evocative of the season. I'm also glad they used a paper cover. I truly hate the plastic so-called jewel cases. They break on the hinge or they break on the holder on the insider making jagged teeth & scratching the CD.

Memorable music from a memorable series 17 April 2014

One of the strengths of this series is the original music and this soundtrack proves it. Too bad the 2 volumes weren't combined on one cd.
