Review
This beautifully illustrated compilation of children's stories and poems is particularly striking for the variety if selections featured. Whilst each piece has its own appeal there is a great diversity of styles, both in he types of story and in the accompanying illustrations. The zany 'My Mum and Dad make ne Laugh' with its bold, upbeat illustrations; the exotic, vibrant, 'Handa's Surprise', and the, ever-popular 'Cuddly Dudley' are perfectly off-set against the classic 'Three Billy Goats Gruff' and the delightful 'Monkey Tricks'. There is something for all children here, to suit every mood and occasion. From new and classic tales to poems and rhymes to alleviate temporary boredom. This lively treasury also includes soothing bedtime favourites to end a busy day. Young children will enjoy choosing stories and sharing them, and those to new reading will find plenty to entertain them. One of the best young children's collections to appear in recent years; this should become a favourite. Review by RUTH DOYLE-WALTER (Kirkus UK)
