A rare children's book that is both exciting and tells you about the real world. And it's about escape - which every child and young person longs to do at some time or another.

5.0 out of 5 stars Walk the Wild Road 20 Jan. 2013
By Rose B
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Walk the Wild Road is a lovely book. As with all Hinton's work, from Heart of the Valley (a great adult novel), to his books for budding teenagers and the wonderful Beaver Towers series (absolutely captivating young children's stories), you get characters who are so warm, fun and, if deep at times, so life affirming. The characters in Walk the Wild Road, set as they are in an unfamiliar, historical setting are all of these - totally memorable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Story 28 Jan. 2013
Format:Paperback
An amazingly well written book. This is an incredible tale that I found difficult to put down. The characters are well-rounded and credible and the author has created a story of such fascination whereby he has brought the past to life. Highly recommended for both children and adults alike. You won't be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good page turner 12 Feb. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I hope that the author will consider writing a sequal of when our hero gets to America and his subsequent adventures there.
It was easy to read and considering that it cost nothing or very little, was very good value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Walk the wild road 4 Feb. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I thought this book deserved five stars because it was a "proper" story. There are many books out there that don't connect with the reader but this one does. You get to know the characters so well and every detail can be remembered without the urge to put the book down. I will certainly be reading some more of Nigel Hintons books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!! 3 Feb. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I really loved 'Walk the Wild Road' by Nigel Hinton. It's an exciting story about a boy's (Leo) journey. I know girls would love the story as well as boys. There are some really nasty characters who make Leo's life very difficult. But there are some really warm people too who help him. The book is very difficult to put down because you really want to know what happens to Leo in the end. Lots of detail in the writing and the story moves at a very fast rate. I recommend it
