Book Description

Walk! La Gomera is dedicated to walking on this inspiring island. 32 fully detailed walking routes give 73 hours of walking covering 223 kilometres with 5,770 metres of ascents and 12,290 metres of descents. Routes range from easy to awe-inspiring to cater for the wide range of walkers visiting La Gomera. All walking routes are symbol rated for effort, time, distance, ascents/descents, circular/linear, vertigo risk and catering.

All routes are illustrated with 1:25,000 scale full colour maps taken from the latest DWG digital map database of the island. 35 of these full colour walking maps are included in Walk La Gomera.

Island map and three regional maps in full colour assist navigation around the island and within regions of the island.

All this information is printed on heavy duty paper, then stitched and bound into a tough laminated cover to produce a sturdy guide book designed for maximum walking and durability. 202mm by 140mm size is designed to fit the cargo shorts/pants and gilets worn by today's walkers.

From the Publisher

Walk! La Gomera is the first title in our new Walk! series of books dedicated to Walking with a capital W. We believe the only place for padding is on your backpack straps, so each title is packed from cover to cover with detailed walking information. Full colour printing on every page brings the walking routes alive. Combining the latest large scale maps with David and Ros Brawn's accurately detailed walk descriptions has produced the definitive guide to walking on La Gomera and represents exceptional value compared to any other guide book.

For 2001 we will be publishing more titles in this exceptional series of guidebooks dedicated to walking. Look out for Walk! Mallorca, Walk! Menorca, Walk! Gran Canaria and Walk! Madeira, appearing in the amazon.co.uk catalogue. All titles will match the unbeatable standard set by Walk! La Gomera.

A real gem for La Gomera 21 April 2004
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
We had planned to be on La Gomera in January but had to delay until mid March, which meant we had the new Walk! La Gomera book and La Gomera Tour & Trail Map. Walk! La Gomera simply leaves all other guide books way behind. If there is any good walking then it is in this book. Routes range from interesting, to inspirational and up to awesome. Excellent maps enhance the well written descriptions and there is a whole bundle of useful info, like the amazing Garajonay Express catamaran ferry between the coastal resorts.
La Gomera Tour & Trail Map is excellent and the material really is super-durable, standing up to two weeks of constant folding, stuffing in pockets, sitting on in the wet forest when resting, and at the end it just folds up like new. Technically if you have the book it is not essential to have the map, but it is so lovely I would buy it anyway.

Just back from La Gomera. What a place! It is like stepping into another world, and for walkers, it is magical. The terrain is wild and challenging, but rewarding. We did 6 of the walks in this excellent book - all we had time for - but we are already booking to go again. If you are into walking, mountains, wild flowers, excellent value local cuisine and unspoilt surroundings, you HAVE to go. And you should take this well-written book. Clear descriptions and plenty of useful details plus advice on where to stay, eat etc. I liked the GPS waypoint information too - La Gomera is not a place to get lost in, so this is especially valuable. We also used the La Gomera Tour & Trail Map from the same publishers - accurate and made of some clever, waterproof, tearproof stuff.

What a change, to have really clear, large scale maps together with easy to follow walk descriptions. I would heartly recommend this book to any visitor to the island.

Well this guy's a mountain goat, double or triple his walk times. La Gomera is tough terrain, this is not walking for wimps!! Scenery spectacular but beware his classifications
