For Canon EF lenses.

Unique Shots

The Fish-Eye Lens by walimex pro makes a whole new view of things possible. Due to the unique perspective, your creativity is not limited. Whether in panorama and landscape photography or in narrow rooms, with the walimex pro Fish-Eye you can achieve brilliant panorama shots. Due to the exceptional depth of focus and the image angle of 180°, all options are open to the adventurous photographer.

Top-quality workmanship

The walimex pro Fish-Eye has a focal length of only 8mm. At a minimum distance of 30cm, exciting wide-angle pictures can already be captured in brilliant sharpness. The fast lens speed of 1:3.5 allows excellent shots even in less favorable lighting conditions. The lens is optimized for DSLR cameras with APS sensors. A fixed lens hood prevents laterally occurring stray light and lens reflections. The glass lenses of the lens are coated and thus ensure a brilliant contrast and sharpness range as well as a well-rounded color balance. The particularly high-quality optics of the lens ensures optimal image results.

New possibilities of image composition

With the walimex pro Fish-Eye photographers receive various possibilities of image composition, especially with spherical panoramas. Straight lines which are not positioned in the middle of the picture will be shown curved and a barrel distortion is the result. This particular lens type has a particularly short focal length for its image format size, which is why the image is displayed with curved forms. That is how photos, which are created with the walimex pro Fish-Eye, receive their typical spherically distorted perspective.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny 30 Mar 2012
Style Name:For Canon EF|Verified Purchase
Length: 0:16 Mins
Originally I was tempted to go for the cheaper option of getting a fish-eye filter, but having heard some good things about the fish-eye lenses, I decided to go for this. When the lens arrives, it doesn't actually come in a sealed box and none of the interior packaging is sealed, which makes it very hard to tell if this has been used previously. However, with that small issue aside we can move on to the lens itself. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this lens. The focus ring is smooth and the lens does not feel like a cheap-plastic one.

There were no issues fitting the lens on, so within seconds I was ready to go. This is a manual focus lens and although there are some more expensive auto-focus ones out there, I don't feel they're worth the extra money. Focusing has not been an issue at all. There's also an aperture ring which definitely comes in handy because I find using the automatic settings on my Canon 550D produces images that are sometimes to bright.

As for the actual images, well I really love how they turn out! In the video I've included some very basic shots (they're not very artistic, but they demonstrate the capability of the lens). What's so great about this lens is that you can use it as a standard one as the level of fish-eye distortion is under your control by the way you hold the camera. I definitely don't regret buying this, and it's already become my favourite lens to use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Lense for the Money 17 Dec 2010
Style Name:For Canon EF
I got this lense as I realised I wanted to go even wider after trying out a 12mm super wide. For the price of this you can't go wrong. I've had loads of fun with this lense. Infact it hasn't been off my camera in the four weeks that I've had it, and I do have a couple of other tastey lenses. If you want to try out fisheye this is probably exactly what you're looking for. It seems to take pretty sharp shots especially from aperture 8 and 22. Low light shots are very possible with the 3.5 aperture, but perhaps not so sharp. Still very useable for my purposes. I don't think I'll be looking for anything other than this in this lense category. I can recommend it.

This lens is steal at the price. Extremely good for the enthusiastic amateur. I use it with Canon D450 it's great fun. I wouldn't recommend it for professional use. Then I am not a professional.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great lens 1 April 2012
Style Name:For Minolta AF/Sony
Made by Samyang (who also have their own version...) and also sold as Rokinon/Bower/ProOptic/Vivitar (the Vivitar version is labelled as being a 7mm lens but it is the exact same) this is a cracking addition to anyone's photo bag. No AF but forget about that... focus on infinity, set aperture to f/8, use stop-down metering (i.e. fix your camera to f/3.5 in AP mode so that aperture ring sets exposure) concentrate on composition and fire away!
