(TOP 50 REVIEWER)
becomes part of the HORRIBLE HISTORY series of books, by TERRY DEARY!

From the back cover:-

'Want to know:-

Why Druids split humans in half?
How the Normans outwitted the Welsh with a lump of ham?
How an army of Welsh mums fought off the French?'

Read on to discover the dreadful deeds that make the history of Wales so horrible - all the gore and more!

A patriotic cover opens to 159 matt pages, split over 19 chapters:-

Early timeline
Heads and tales
Smashing Saxons
Bad bards
Vicious Vikings
Gruesome Gruffydd
Middle Ages Timeline
Miserable Middle Ages
Power to the Princes 1 : Lots of Llywelyns
Power to the Princes 2 : Orful Owains
Terrible Tudors
Test your teacher
Mad modern timeline

Terrible tourist tales
Rotten religion
Miserable mines
People power

sandwiched between an introduction and an `Interesting Index'!

Written with the typical Deary humour in a variety of fonts, to break up the text and keep the interest.
Interspersed with `Did you knows.......?' and informative footnotes.
Superb black and white illustrations throughout, with some in cartoon format, from Martin Brown.

From the epilogue:-

'Wales was a country of mountains and poor peasants.
The Romans then the Saxons then the Normans kept trying to take over but they never quite made it.
English kings and queens called their oldest sons the `Prince of Wales' but that hasn't fooled the Welsh.
In the end it was an English king Henry VIII who made Wales part of England............but Henry VIII was one of the Tudors......
.....A Welsh family.
How weird is that?........'

And.........did you know ........there are now over 50 HORRIBLE HISTORY titles!
'Got the whole horrible lot?'

Super book - super price, currently - 20/08/08!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Brand but check facts, 6 Dec 2008
My children love horrible histories and this continues that tradition - but
just on a personal note
page 153 it confuses descendants with predecessors and then gets the descendant wrong - Rhodri Morgan First Minister is not a direct descendant of John Morgan - I am a descendant of John Morgan and he wasn't deported to Australia - that's why I live in the UK presumably.Maybe I'm nit picking!
but excellent otherwise and may it get readers to challenge assertions and facts.
