Walking The Dead: Season 7 - Trevor Eve, Sue Johnston, and Wil Johnson star in Waking the Dead, the Emmy award-winning crime drama in which The Cold Case Squad must reopen unsolved cases and try to find the killers using modernised methods and skills. Following major advances in forensic science, psychological profiling and technology, the chances of solving mysterious cases that have long lain dormant are better than ever. Leading The Cold Case Squad is DSI Peter Boyd (Trevor Eve) who, with his team of dedicated professionals - psychological profiler Dr Grace Foley (Johnston) and DI Spencer Jordan (Johnson) - is determined to hunt down the ruthless killers and criminals of yesterday who thought they'd got away with it. In this series, DSI Boyd and his Cold Case Squad enter the visceral worlds of international terrorism, private military contractors, the penal system and sex offenders, Navajo rituals, people trafficking and neo Nazi politics to close more previously unsolved cases.  Series 7 of this popular drama offers more dark, gripping tales of murder mystery.Just to let you know, we have imported this product from Holland , do not worry though, the item is in English and contains optional Dutch subtitles!

With no sign (to date) of Waking The Dead series 7 being released on UK dvd it was nice to pick up an import dvd of this series. The dvd release is a Dutch one which means the packaging is in Dutch. However don't let this put you off - the actual dvds play in English language with removable Dutch subtitles. This 3 disk set contains all 6 stories - Missing Persons, Sins, Duty And Honor, Skin, Wounds and Pieta. Each story is presented in it's original 2 part format. This 7th series of Waking The Dead is very enjoyable (as all the series have been)and I hope series 8 will be released on dvd soon.

At last Waking the Dead Series 7 is here!

For me, Series 7 is perhaps one of the best series so far. We see Boyd and the team tackle terrorists, the army and war criminals amongst other cold cases. The first episode "Missing Persons" is in particular a highlight. The second episode revives the Boyd and his son story arc and introduces Boyd's nemesis; if you saw series 8 then you will know who I mean.

As always Waking the Dead's fine cast led by the sublime Trevor Eve combined with engaging and vastly interesting stories mean that the show is without question the best British police drama we have. There can be no doubt that it is one of the best serial drama's that the BBC has produced. Whilst the show is compared to others it is massively superior, and none of its police drama stable mates really can compare to it. Its like Fitz and Jane Tennyson have got together to make a cross between Cracker and Prime Suspect set in a cold case unit! Only, its better. Above all else, Waking the Dead is top notch entertainment.

If you are looking for an intriguing, engaging and most importantly, entertaining two hours then buy Waking the Dead!

This series takes Waking the Dead even further away from the Cold case/CSI stereotype and focuses far more than ever on the people behind the characters. This is done very successfully while at the same time choosing exceptionally controversial subject matter, from neo-Nazism to genocide to frustrated terrorism. There's a general theme running through the series of the impact of the murders on children and young people - running parallel to Boyd's own experiences with his troubled child.

I can't recommend this too highly - but be prepared for some gut-wrenching story lines!

Waking the dead series 7 is not quite as good as series 6, but it receives the same four star rating due to the one awful episode in that series. Having said that the series is still delivering, with solid plots and interesting characters. The acting, production value and plots are as good as ever as we've come to expect from the WTD team. Even though this series is slightly more implausible, the stories do entertain and grip you.

Missing Persons: This is a good start with and interesting plot and great character development. This episode received "Good." Throughout this series there is a sub-plot about Boyd's son, this episode is when we learn his son has re-appeared, setting the stage for the next five episodes.

Sins: This is the best episode in this series, the only one to attain a high rating. "Excellent" demonstrates how good it is, it has a really strong plot and the revilement is really memorable.

Duty And Honour: This episode has taken us from hero to zero, being the worst I this set. The plot was bland, and was very slow and un-engaging. It still got "Average" though, being watchable. It was a bit silly.

Skin: This was a "Good" episode but there are many better WTD's out there. It was intriguing to find out what took place, but nothing spectacular, it was also predictable in parts.

Wounds: Another "Good" one, but still did not give us anything outstanding. It is entertaining, worth a watch, but nothing new. It was implausible again.

Piet'a: All of these last four episodes in series 7 have been hard to follow and attach yourself to, which is why the ratings are not massively high. Piet'a again doesn't deliver to WTD's full, before recognised potential, but it has a great ending that ties up all of the loose ends.

This series is always good entainment, but season 7 was amazing. Having 27 years in law enforcement in New York City, it's refreshing to see that team members are not immune to the personal issues we normally associate with the civilians we serve. I won't go into detail so as not to spoil it for others. As you may have deduced, this series is not available here, so I must purchase it from you Brits, which is fine with me. The extra effort and cost, although I have to save up to buy it, is well worth this series.

Loved the series up to now, but it's beginning to creak at the seams. At least three daft episodes in this batch, particularly SKINS with the ageing 'white power' skinheads, and WOUNDS featuring a bunch of middle-aged businessmen on a 'self-empowerment' weekend. Both stretching credibility too far and actually boring.
