DVD Description

Starring Sue Johnstone, Tara Fitzgerald and Trevor Eve, the ninth series sees Detective Superintendent Boyd and his cold case team tackle their most challenging and personal cases to date. Foisted upon Boyd by the top brass of the Police Force is a new team member: DSI Sarah Cavendish, a brilliant counter-terrorism officer who matches Boyd in rank. He knows she must have fallen from grace to end up with the Cold Case squad alongside him - but how? As the team pick up on Sarah's on-going symptoms of post-traumatic stress, Sarah repeatedly challenges Boyd's unorthodox take on police procedure - something, she warns, he will pay for one day...

Enjoy the Ride ! 20 May 2011
Some excellent/well loved series creak on past their sellby date until put out of their misery and after the travesty that was the last Spooks maybe that could be the next one....Waking the Dead is most certainly NOT one of them !!!!
There have been times in past series when Boyd seemed to have completely lost it and was hard to imagine him a)still being in the job b) anyone could possibly work with him.
Happy to say those days are gone, he is still maverick,a bit reckless but you can go along on the ride to see him doing what he does best and relate to the team around him.
This is a return to form with a huge BANG all 5 eisodes are beautifully crafted,in every episode you set off on a journey of discovery through all the twists and turns.Intelligent use of flash backs to confirm what went all those years ago after that point had been reached in the present day narrative. The introduction of DS Cavendish to the team is a masterstroke and the story arc of her relationship with Boyd adds further to the drama....
There is no single standout episode because they were all Excellent..Exciting-Clever-Scary and sometimes a tad gruesome,I found the burned car crash victim a particularily watch through the fingers experience..
For anyone deflated by Spooks this is a worthy anidote..for everyone this is a high value "good as it gets" crime drama.
Hang On and Enjoy the Ride !!

What can I say.

First, I am in California, USA. And we are so tired of crappy network TV and many of us are turning to the UK for our viewing entertainment. Discovering Amazon UK and buying a region free DVD has changed everything. Thank you Amazon.

I love Trevor Eve in everything and hunt his shows down.

Waking the Dead was my first UK series. The first 5 seasons are now available in the USA but I will be six feet under by the time these finally turn up in America. So I was very thrilled to have the privilege to watch them.

To me this series is the best TV series on television, with MI-5 coming in next. Great acting. Great plots. Great Trevor Eve.

waking the dead 9 28 May 2011
Excellent as usual. Well cast and trevor eve is brilliant. Can't beat a good english who dunit. Plus it's got subtitles for those of us who are deaf. Something that is sadly lacking in a lot of tv stuff. Roni.
