I can only endorse all the other reviews in giving this final series a 5-star rating for acting, production and storylines. My main reason for this review is more about the cutting that obviously occurs when the show is broadcast on BBC Canada (and BBC America too?). The two episodes that comprise each case are normally shown back-to-back in consecutive one hour time slots. However, they are interrupted by commercial breaks that become more and more frequent as the end of each episode approaches. This obviously disrupts the flow of the storyline, and dissipates the building tension. But worse than this is that during a one hour episode I estimate commercials and trailers take up around ten minutes of that hour, and as each episode on the DVD runs at least 57 minutes, it's obvious that considerable cuts are made so that the program "fits" the allocated time. So, if you have a DVD player that is set up for All Regions, buy the DVDs and watch the show as it was originally produced. Incidentally, I believe PBS also indulges in similar editing practices.
