I wasn't sure about this move when I first read the synopsis - working class boy meets rich girl and their parents try to keep them apart. What's original about that, right? But actually, this movie has a charming, heart-felt script and the story does have a little edge to it.

Jade (played by Gabrielle Wilde) and David (played by Alex Pettyfer) are graduating high school when you first see them. Jade is a loner with a very childlike attitude and naiveté who lost a brother to cancer a year earlier and has since been unable to move on. Her mother (played fabulously by Joely Richardson) is a free-spirited author who is hoping her daughter will find peace, love and the chance to finally live her teenage years. Her father (portrayed very well by Bruce Greenwood), is a surgeon who has never come to terms with the death of his son and whose grief has gradually morphed into rage. With a firm grasp on his daughter, he wants her to follow in his footsteps (as his late son had planned to) and become a surgeon, taking an internship at Brown. Jade's other brother, Keith (played by Rhys Wakefield) is desperate for his father's approval and wishes he would deal with his grief so the family can move on.

David is an only child who lives with his father (played by Robert Patrick). His father owns a auto shop and David hopes to take this over from him someday, with no plans to go to college. David has been fascinated by Jade since the 10th grade and finally gets the chance to speak to her when he's working the valet at a restaurant she arrives at.

No one ever talked to Jade (Gabriella Wilde) while she was in high school because she was too beautiful and too rich. David (Alex Pettyfer), who has never talked to her, likes her as they speak for the first time as he parks their family car at the country club. Soon she joyously loses her virginity by the fireside. Her home has magical floor boards that squeak when you walk on them, but not when you make love on them. Be gentle it's my first time and the floor boards squeak.

Her mom (Joely Richardson) is supportive of their relationship. Dad (Bruce Greenwood) is not. Dad plans for Jade to be a doctor and go to Brown University. David, who is intelligent, plans on taking over his dad's (Robert Patrick) garage and hopefully he can stop punching a time clock.

This is a not a guy's film. Grown ups running around with sparklers? Falling in love forever on a first meeting. Having your first sex somewhere besides an automobile. Daughter not knowing what a jerk her dad is after living with him for 18 years. A mechanic with smooth hands. Seriously Shana?

This is a one star film for guys, 5 stars for women. Please ladies, don't make your man sit through this one forcing him not to chuckle while you have a Puffs moments.

Parental Guide: 1 F-bomb near end. Implied love making. Brief sheer fabric nudity. Were her straps still on her shoulder while laying down after she took the garment off?

This one is for true romantics! I don't want to spoil your viewing pleasure (and there will be pleasure - the two main characters are eye-candy and the chemistry between them is believable - you just love to watch them on screen!).

"Endless Love" is the story of a privileged girl and a charming boy who love each other from the distance and then get together and the desire and longing that appears between them is so powerful and overwhelming that you know this one will be one epic love, the affair made only more wild by parents trying to keep them apart. Here you go, that's what you need to know - now pick a lazy evening and enjoy the film. Okay, it's not The Notebook [DVD], but it's pleasant and enjoyable. Plus the soundtrack is full of catchy good songs. I will be checking it out right after I finish with this review.

Oh, and yes, the target audience is women, sorry guys.

So Bad! I thought I might enjoy it, simply because I'm a girl, so chick flicks don't offend. But this was awful. From the wooden acting to the weak story line to the unbelievable character emotions. Just awful.

Boring, storyline doesn't inspire warm fuzzy feelings - severe lack of passion. Felt that Alex Pettyfer carried most of the story. Wish I hadn't bought it.

I have not seen the original but this is a pretty watchable if not lifeless remake. The 2 leads are rather leaden but its watchable and worth a shot.
