Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

There are three "songbirds" all together--Lynette from Liverpool, Flick from Devon and Amy from Surrey. Their debut single "The Weatherman (No Wonder I Feel Blue)" garnered a lot of airplay and media attention, which the three young ladies have now capitalised on with this full-length. Wake Up Call continues the threesome's forays into acoustic pop with a country twist. Inspired by veteran singers such as Joni Mitchell, Eva Cassidy and The Dixie Chicks, the songs here are pared down and simple, built from acoustic guitar strums, riffled piano harmonies and softly brushed drums. The real key to the songs though are the girl's voices; more specifically their three-part harmonies. Tracks like "Lazy Sunday Morning" and "Butterflies and Rainbows" are reminiscent of 60s-era ballads, while "Take Me As You Find Me" and "Show Me A Sign" further underline the trio's honeyed vocal talents and penchant for memorable pop hooks. It's not a complicated album, and some may lament the lack of innovation. But those who enjoy well-written country pop songs polished to perfection will find much to like here. --Danny McKenna

The Guardian Unlimited, April 24 2007

A talented three-piece, sweet-pop group..., with voices like
purest sunshine and magic music that soothes the soul.

Fantastic Voices 26 Nov 2007
Format:Audio CD
Their voices are very harmonious and their arrangements are perfectly simple. Their voices and songs remind me of Wilson Phillips, the Bangles and a little bit like B*Witched. Some of their songs have a country style to them and some may say that their songs sound dated. I think regardless of this, their voices are fantastic and a joy to listen to. 5 Stars from me.

Interestingly theres a DVD called WAKE UP CALL:Saving the Songbirds.
Must prove something-maybe this sort of thing is going to save the idea of what used to be pop music!

Sweet Songbirds 15 Feb 2008
Format:Audio CD
Wake Up Call is, by far the best known track on this album having not long been a top 5 hit single. But, it is not truly reflective of the rest of the album. They are beaitiful singers with soft warm voices that fit their group name. This is a lovely relaxed album and well worth a listen. My only worry is that they do sound too laid back and have leaned more towards country and this I feel could sideline them into a genre that will not see them thrive as I believe that they should. But hey! what the hell do I know go on give your ears a treat and buy this you will not regret it.
