Book two of Lovers and Friends

Tyler Coil doesn't do men. But it's harder to remember that each time he visits his best friend, gorgeous Landon Burke. As a political reporter, Ty is good at reading people, and he can tell the lust is mutual. But giving in to it could mean alienating his ultra-conservative family.

Landon never desired a man badly enough to explore that side of his sexuality—until he met Ty. He's waited four long years for a sign that Ty wants him too, and he can't deny his needs much longer. So when a career opportunity arises out-of-state, Landon wonders if maybe it's time to move on.

Then Ty crashes at Landon's while working on a story—and a searing kiss ignites a night of mind-blowing sex that's better than their most erotic fantasies. Forced to face his feelings, Ty must decide if love is worth the risk after all—before he loses Landon forever.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun M/M Romance 29 Oct 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
The premise for Waiting for Ty is an intriguing one. Two guys, who have become the best of friends after meeting four year's previously, are sexually attracted to each other without the other knowing.

Reporter, Tyler Coil, is travelling to see his sexy best friend, Landon Burke, staying at his place while he works on a story. He's nervous as hell because he doesn't want his feelings to betray him. He's always felt a strong connection with Landon but has never acted on it for fear of the consequences.

Ty and Landon greet each other as always, but after a quick hello, a couple of beers, a slice of pizza and half a football game, they are ripping each other's clothes off. It's difficult to really become connected with the romance as it moves along quite quickly. The fact that neither Ty nor Landon have been with a guy before is lost in the lust of their first time together. It was all a little rushed for my liking.

King can certainly write hot sex scenes though, these two guys were hot for each other and it showed; the pages sizzled. But as they hadn't been with another guy before, a little more hesitation and anxiety about what they were about to do would have given authenticity to the story. Instead they seemed to be totally at ease with it, as out came the lube and off they went!

With just a few extra pages their first night together could have been much more realistic and meaningful, and I would have been able to immerse myself completely. As it was I found the quickness of them getting in bed together a little jarring and it took away from the impact of the situation for both guys, because, for them, this was no one-night stand.

Ty and Landon spend the entire weekend together until Ty decides that what they are doing isn't a good idea.

2.0 out of 5 stars I expected a more sensual story. 16 Aug 2013
By luciefuentes - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I was a little disappointed.
I expected a more sensual story. Even if the romance is nice, it lacks exciting moments and clichés are too many for my taste.

Ty and Landon are friends and are attracted to each other. On a night game, they let their emotions take over. It was a rather attractive introduction and a good start for an erotic romance. Two straight men who decide to take the plunge and accept their attractions. But I found the night lacked sincerity, realism and the steamy sex I expected.

After an amazing night, reality reasserts itself and the two men panicked. Landon wants to embrace the relationship while Ty takes his heels. From that time, I found that the author used too much clichés.
Questions about what will people think at work, family... If the two characters were really bi or gay, they would have already had the opportunity to consider the implications of their attraction.
Same with the presentation to Ty's parents, who are portrayed as devout Catholics who believe that homosexuality is a disease punishable by a trip to hell ...

Indeed, homosexuality is still not accepted by everyone, but I hope that mentalities will change. This has nothing to do with religion but with tolerance and acceptance of others and their differences.

Gay erotic literature can help to bring a romantic look, sensual and exciting on A love story whatever the sexe of the characters. In this book, I felt like living openly your homosexuality was about overcoming a lot of difficulties and not about the beauty of the relationship and feelings. That's why I stayed asking for more.

5.0 out of 5 stars A rating.... 29 July 2013
By Smitten with Reading - Published on Amazon.com

My Review:
I liked this book. These are two men who have been friends for four years. They've both felt their mutual attraction, but have never done anything to pursue it, partly because of the stigma of m/m, but also because each of them value their friendship and truly don't know how the other will react. They've both dated women, but neither has felt the kind of deep connection there is between the two of them.

Landon is a scientist. He's more introverted and withdrawn. He's the serious one of the two, but is the one wanting to really pursue a relationship. Ty is the extrovert. He's a political reporter out of Austin and is truly just a people person. Ty's family are good-old-boy ranchers with strong religious beliefs. Although, he doesn't believe the same things as them, he still loves his family and doesn't want to be ostracized by them. They will not understand if he confesses his bi-sexuality to them. He's really concerned about getting involved with Landon....what it will do to his relationship with his family and his job.

On pretty much every level, this book worked for me. I liked both Landon and Ty and liked that we got to see both their struggles as they grow to accept this relationship. They live in different towns, Houston and Austin, so it should be easy for them to stay apart once they decide that. I liked that honesty about where they are with their acceptance. This isn't an easy insta-love kind of fix and it takes time for each of them to work it out in their heads. The most difficult thing for both of them is that although the fantasy has been there, neither one of them has ever slept with a man before...and this hook-up wasn't planned. It just happened which is so much more stunning and difficult to accept.

I live in Texas and loved the Texas aspect of this book. So much of it rang very true. Now I need to go back and read the story of Landon's sister. It sounds like that was a very good book too!

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

2.0 out of 5 stars OK premise, but weak 6 Dec 2013
By andydonna - Published on Amazon.com

Thought the premise of two men (one of whom is straight as a wooden ruler and the other straight as a cloth tape measure) would be a good story. The story is OK but certainly not earth shaking. I would like to see this story re-written with less cliches and less angst about family. These are adult men and if you are in love - you are in love and not much you can do about it!

Good characters and lots of angst makes for a good read. I would read another m/m story by this author.
