Product Description

Mum!! Orghlaith cried from the front room. Mum I need you!! Dympna dropped the spuds she was peeling in the kitchen and ran in to see her daughter. Oh Jesus Mary and Joseph! This is it! Erin O Meara arrived kicking and screaming into the world oblivious to the impact she would have upon her family. Her arrival sets in motion a series of events which forces all of them to confront their past, present and pride. Will Seamus get his Dympna back? Will Orghlaith come home? And what will the fate of Erin be?

I am not a great reader, but was given a copy of Waiting for Erin for Christmas. I have two children aged 9 and 15. The contents of this book have so moved me that I neeed to sit down with both of my boys in different ways and talk through some of the issues raised. The harsh realities of drug dependance - and the unconditional love of family are painted here in a story that moves at a pace. Being of Irish extraction some of the sub plots also meant a lot to me. Bottom line is that I loved it and am happy to recommend this book to others
