An absolute must for any Carthy fan. There are four brilliant instrumentals with virtuoso guitar throughout.
Famous Flower of Serving Men is an epic highlight but Bonny Woodhall is the show-stopper for me. Plaintive vocals and spare guitar in support create an eery, ethereal atmosphere.
If you are lucky enough to hear Carthy perform this live, wait for the collective in-take of breath and pause from the audience as the song ends, before the applause starts. Truly brilliant.
There's not a duff song on this album (unlike Signs of Life, when for me at least, Heartbreak Hotel didn't really work) - it's brilliant all the way from the stirring A Ship to Old England Came, the quirky Harry Lime Theme and the monster finale.
Buy it and rest assured your money will be well spent.
