I thought this book would help me sort out the stories behind Wagner's operas. To a point it did, but unfortunately the author didn't use the various characters'names in relation to the operas, so I ended up not really much the wiser. The device of telling the story to the little girl, and the story-telling itself, worked well. But over all, the book didn't really do what it said in the title.

as a lover of Wagmer,I was very surprised to find the essense of the Ring,probably the most complicated music drama of all time,covered here as stories to a child.New Wagner fans could well benefit from this book as an introduction.
