Both authors have done a remarkable job with this amazing book. They understand perfectly well what collectors are looking for: crystal clear pictures and essential comments. Let the pictures speak for themselves... And that's exactly the case. Whilst some might question the need for yet another reference book on German uniforms, insignia and equipment, this publication has tried a very original approach, and the Aussie duo have been able to cover almost all important features of what is widely accepted as being a rather complex subject. The quality of the pictures and especially the colours, is absolutely stunning. To give a typical example: I found the double page with the shoulder boards of great interest as it proves that a wide variety of manufacturing methods existed at the time. The same applies to the collar patches. It is the authors' great merit that they have stuck to the essentials, and resisted the temptation to get swamped in exceptions which surely was a danger with such complex matter. As such this work is an absolute must for every serious collector who will appreciate the fact that this excellent format book will help enormously to make the distinction between the genuine and the fake... And finally, the pricetag of this book should be the last reason for not buying it! Well done mates!
