Most Helpful Customer Reviews

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful By Posy Hill on 12 Sept. 2006
Format: Paperback
This delightful tale of love and chaos set in the picturesque Devon

countryside serves as a reminder that the "simple life" is often far from

simple. Featuring a cast of interesting and occasionally outrageous

characters, the plot revolves around the efforts of the redoubtable but

sympathetic heroine, Connie struggling to balance the needs of her family

with the demands of her hectic social life. The consequences are, at times,

hilarious. Warm, funny and poignant, "Wading through Jelly" is a

genuinely "feel good" read.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful By Yorkshire Tyke on 7 April 2007
Format: Paperback
Connie's life seems to be buffeted more than somewhat by the bad and the good bits of life. The people she meets really 'lift' off the page; there are plenty of smiles and you will have to try very hard not to laugh out loud, which can be particularly embarrassing in Row H of a charter plane. A tissue should be to hand to ease some of the involvingly sadder moments.
Overall - great fun and not at all like the effort required when wading through jelly.

The title describes it, I am afraid. Lots of family descriptions/conversations/incidents -
but none of them made me want to read any further. Lovely prose, in part, but NOT yet interesting
enough to finish it! Sorry.
