Product Description

Product Description

Dive into your digital image.
Intuos5. The intuitive way to create. Redefined.

The new Intuos5 may impress with sleek design but it diverts all attention to where creativity comes to life: on screen. Once again this pen tablet will redefine the way creatives work, allowing them to focus entirely on the job at hand.

The Intuos5 is equipped with up to eight ExpressKeys which can be configured individually. Fitted with new haptics they enable you to 'feel' the interaction with the computer application and allow you to work even more intuitively. But wait until you have tried the multifunctional Touch Ring – it's incredibly easy and intuitive to use. It features four programmable functions for every application: for instance scrolling, zooming, brush size, canvas rotation or layer selection. As these can be tailored to your requirements work gets faster and more efficient. You only need to hover your finger over an ExpressKey to review the settings on screen via the Express View display. As a result distraction is minimised – and concentration on your creation maximised.

But it doesn’t stop there, as the Intuos5 Grip Pen with 2,048 pressure levels opens new possibilities for accurate and artistic work. The four different nibs add to the pen-on-paper feel. Additional comfort is provided by the soft-touch surface of the pen tablet. An ergonomic wrist rest makes even longer sessions enjoyable – no matter if you're left- or right-handed.

Also, the radial menu cuts production time for retouching and design through structured and fast access to shortcuts.

Aside from many new technical innovations the Intuos5 offers even more freedom through the optional Wireless Accessory Kit. So, if you are looking for more efficiency, productivity and precision the new Intuos5 is just the right tool for you.

Intuos5 – for the best creatives in the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wacom Intuos5 Medium (pen only) 13 April 2012
By Dan

I previously owned a Wacom Graphire that I bought in 2003/4. It was A6 and apart from when I had photos with a lot of dust spots, I rarely used it. I bought the Intuos5 Medium (pen only) on a whim, you could say. My father was interested in it so I researched it for him and ending up buying one for myself. The packaging it came in is fine, the internal cardboard looks to be compostable and it was presented nicely.

The installation instructions were a little misleading/confusing - the diagram shows you connecting the USB cable and then putting the CD into the computer but the text on the next page says to install the drivers first or else it won't work properly. I followed the diagram and Windows 7 installed a generic USB device straight away. I then inserted the CD and installed the drivers and it all worked perfectly.

The settings are very easy to change and it takes little effort to set the tablet and pen up as you want. The "head-up display" is really useful to remind you what you have assigned the buttons to be. The ability to be able to set buttons on a per software basis is really useful - I was very easily able to set one button to be Ctrl+E to export an image from Lightroom and have the same button perform Ctrl+0 in Photoshop to change the zoom. Hint: run the application first, then you can just select it in the tablet settings.

The feel of the pen and tablet is smooth - not just in the tactile sense. It flows, it feels right, it feels worth the money you paid. Compare it to my Graphire and the Graphire feels like it is from the stone age. I haven't had it long, but already I'm loving it and will be using it all the time when working with photos (I'm a photographer).

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything I Hoped for 8 Oct 2012

I had been looking to purchase a tablet for the last 6 months, deciding to wait until my B'day. I'd drawn comic art with traditional methods and wished to switch to digital methods, mainly due to a young family and the worry of permanent black ink spills.

I'd soon decided that WACOM was the way to go but was not sure about the size to choose or whether to buy a Bamboo or an Intuos 5.

I went for the medium pen option Intuos 5 and although still not trying the others properly I don't regret the choice one bit. The medium size is perfect. I'd worried it would be too small, but it's not at all. I do think a small size tablet would have been insufficient though.

The pen is light and comfy and the whole process of learning to use it, (although strange the first time I tried), was quickly as comfortable as a pen and paper. (Although with the added advantage of UNDO).

I don't use the keys much yet, although the toggle wheel is a god send. Especially for zooming. I'm glad I didn't spend out on the touch function as in my case I just don't think it would have warranted the extra expenditure.

Amazon's service was fantastic as always and I'm a very happy man. Couldn't recommend it more highly.

You get what you paid for. The tablet is responsive, comfortable, fun to use and the customization is very useful.
I started with a Bamboo, and I can say the Intuos5 is worth the difference in price.

I was excited to get my hands on this product and wasn't disappointed one bit. Very nice. Very nice indeed. I have upgraded from a bamboo pen and touch and after never using the touch feature on that i opted for the pen only version. Buy it! Right now!

it's much better than the wacom bamboo series and worth this price, lines are drawn smoothly but the situation of slow response also appear from time to time.

The tablet is amazing and makes photo editing and digital drawing a real pleasure. Its easy to set up and use and very intuitive. The only improvement would be if the wireless bit came built in instead of having to buy it separately
