Here are some great ways that Bamboo can help you at work:

  • Improve the way you work with your computer using gestures and pen input
  • Mark up documents in common Office 2007 applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook using the review and inking tools
  • Mark up PDFs with your thoughts and comments using the pen tool

Whether you're using multi-touch gestures to navigate and operate your computer, or utilising the pen for more detailed work, Bamboo provides a compelling combination that will change the way you work.

All Bamboo models that include a pen make collaboration natural and easy, but you should check your computer specifications to see whether your operating system and software support these features. It works best with Office 2007 and Microsoft Windows Vista or Windows 7, which includes a number of pen-friendly features.

Inking

Inking allows you to write digitally in your own handwriting, making it possible to take notes on your computer, sign your name, write an email to a friend, highlight important parts of a document, or even sketch out a diagram.

It's like writing on paper, but in a way that can be saved, edited, and shared as a digital file. Imagine having the potential to change the way you communicate by sending personal messages and fun drawings, annotating driving directions, or just brightening up someone's day with a little humour.

Even if you've never used a digital pen before, it's easy to understand why the pen is intuitive to use - it's just like writing with traditional pens, pencils, and markers. Additionally, you can navigate your computer with the Bamboo pen.

Bamboo models that include a pen make digital inking possible, but you should check your computer specifications to see whether your operating system and software support inking. 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product 21 Oct 2009
This is the first graphics tablet I have ever bought, and its great so far.
I was excited to find it was delivered very quickly indeed despite the so called royal mail strike and it was amazon super saver delivery. Its so nice and is a breeze to use after 10 mins.

The packaging is nice and protects well.

The tablet itself is a good size, not too big or too small.

At one point during use of the product just after i got it out and started experimenting, It occured to me that if it went by pen and your fingers, while drawing with the pen your fingers might keep interfering with the cursor. Luckily Wacom know this and whenever the pen is close to the table, the pen takes prioty. Happy to find that out :)

Would give 4/5 for Size
5/5 for Style
5/5 for ease of use
3/5 for accessorys (extra nibs and pen holder attached to tablet)
5/5 for precission

Overall 5/5

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent grahics kit 29 Nov 2009
Firstly, well done Amazon on an excellent service and super quick delivery. The Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch Tablet is excellent value for money in its price range for the purposes of sketching, creating art work, painting, creating animations, photo touch-ups and text/signature annotation etc. Providing of course that the user has the appropriate software to carry out these tasks. Of course ,if you are looking to use a pen and tablet for high-end professional applications, then you need to pay a lot more. Presented in excellent packaging, the box contains the tablet, pen, spare nibs, nib extractor, quick guide and driver CD. I would advise to download the latest drivers for your operating system from the Wacom web site as there have been some improvements since the CD was produced. The tablet is a very pleasing design which only takes up approx 10.5 x 7 inches on the desk including the pen holder. It can be used for either left or right handed operation. The active area of the tablet is scaled to the size of your monitor, so every corner of the screen can be accessed. The tablet has 4 buttons that can be customised to your needs. The pen feels very natural and very precise and has an eraser. When you register your tablet at Wacom, you can download free mini applets to get you started. From personal experience the kit works very well with Corel Painter Essentials 4 and Corel Paintshop Pro Photo X2. I am running Windows XP Pro SP3 with a USB Optical Mouse and PS2 Keyboard which co-exist with the Wacom tablet with no ill-effects. A word of warning though. Plug the Wacom tablet into a free USB port on your PC proper. I intially plugged mine into a 4 port USB Hub and the tablet went crazy, opening applications without me touching anything and when I surfed the web, all sorts of strange things happened. Read more ›

5.0 out of 5 stars A well researched purchase 14 Oct 2010
By Jamie
Never before in my life have I taken so long to research and make my mind up on a purchase... Over a year!
I was originally looking at buying an Intuos 4 but discovered they have a serious problem with nib wear, plus they are very expensive.
I therefore began considering the Bamboo range. I found a very good comparison chart on the Wacom website.

Upon receiving the item I installed the software, plugged in the tablet and started using the pen as though it was the most natural thing in the world! It's truly fabulous and I'm gutted I didn't buy one earlier. In fact it's so good I'm buying another one for my other computer.

Part of the reason for my hesitation was uncertainty over the quality and function of the bamboo range (especially when they use the word 'fun' in the title which makes it seem like a toy, not a bit of kit for a serious professional)

SIZE: I thought the A6 pad would too small but have found it's perfect. I discovered a friend has an A5 Intuos 3 and he says the pad is a bit too big.
PRESSURE LEVELS: The Bamboo has 1024 pressure levels compared to 2048 on the Intuos 4 and I was concerned this would be noticeable when painting in Photoshop. I haven't tried the Intuos 4 to compare but can report the Bamboo gives good variation in stoke width with varying pen pressure. I initially found producing fine lines difficult (which requires a very light pressure on the pen) but once my confidence grew I stopped thinking about the pen/pressure and just began drawing... and loving it!
FUNCTION: My primary computer use is for video editing and have found the transition from mouse to stylus was instant and in many ways a great improvement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth getting! 26 Jan 2010
By Smudge
I was given a Bamboo Pen & Touch for Christmas, and what a brilliant piece of kit! I use a MacBook with Photoshop CS3 and have had no trouble at all with either the installation, or use. As a Fine Art student I use the tablet mainly for drawing and graphic work and it is so easy. If you are considering buying one of these, I would say don't hesitate, go for it. By the way I am no youngster, at 50+ I think I qualify as a wrinkly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch 21 Feb 2010
It does what it says on the tin. Its both a graphics tablet and a touch pad.

It works very well, and is everybit as good as my old [wacom bamboo fun] graphics tablet. With hindsite though I would have not bothered with the touch pad element, as I personally found it to be a bit of a gimmik, and switched it off after a couple of hours. Instead I would have saved a little more, and bought the medium sized graphics tablet, or spent a little less and bought one without the touchpad capability.
