I bought this book along with two others to see what it was like well quite a lot of the patterns are very wacky and i think no one in their right mind would take their dog out in them but you can modify the patterns or only knit part of the pattern so that it is not so wacky. This book is very good for one thing it really shows you in great detail how to do all the different stitches in writing and in pictures so it is well worth it just for that.
As a cat -rather than a dog- person, I can't comment on the ethics or feasibility of persuading your pet into a wacky outfit (my Sooty would have my hand off if I tried sending him out dressed as a bumble bee!) but I saw this book in town and was quite taken with it!
There are 10 outfits each given in 3 possible sizes.
From the more normal (preppy cardi for a boy, contrast trim French cardi & beret for a girl) to the fancy dress- I liked the commissionaire's outfit with epaulettes & cap, but was less sure about the frog costume! There's a superman hoodie, jockey's outfit, sunflower and of course the bee complete with wings (do dogs really keep these things on??!!)
Anyway if you've got a wacky dog...an ideal purchase!
