The world of WWF has come a long way since 1990. Summerslam 1990 and the following Summerslam of '91 are two of the most classic PPV's of WWF history. Summerslam 1990 shows us Hulk Hogan at his peak. You can not help but feel a strange emotion of joy watching Hogan after the match. Don't judge Hogan by his WCW role today.
The Ultimate Warrior another hero also is in this event. He fights the late Rick Rude in a steel cage match. Both Hogans and the Warriors matches are not the best matches you will ever see but they are special.
Legends like Bret Hart, Shawn Michals, Randy Savage and Dusty Rhodes all appear at there peak as well as, Curt Henning (Mr Perfect), Jake Roberts, Jim Duggan and Sgt Slaughter.

Summerslam 90 is the WWF's third Summerslam event (it began in 1988, and soon became a summer tradition) and features a double main event. The first main event is Hulk Hogan versus Earthquake in a grudge match (to hype the match, the WWF ran an angle where Earthquake injured Hogan and nearly cost him his career). The second main event is a WWF Title Match between The Ultimate Warrior and Ravishing Rick Rude, held within the confides of a steel cage!
Unfortunately although it looks like a great card on paper (or in this case, on the back of the video cover), Summerslam 90 is rather dissapointing overall. The opening match between The Rockers and Power And Glory looks promising enough, but it's ruined by the fact that it's a short, one-sided affair with Hercules and Paul Roma working on Shawn Michael's injured knee throughout, and Marty Janetty barely getting a look-in in the match.
The card picks up with a good Intercontinental Title Match between Mr Perfect and Texas Tornado, but even this match has room for improvement, as it's simply too short in length. As Summerslam continues, The Warlord is put over as a powerful monster in a fair match with Tito Santana, and Sapphire's match with Sensational Queen Sherri doesn't even take place, as Sapphire fails to show up! (there's a reason for this, which is explained later in the show, but to it's still insulting to call off an advertised match like that).
The best match on the show is the 2-out-of-3 falls Tag Team Title Match between Demolition and The Hart Foundation. The in-ring action is great, but the finish is rather clever aswell (I won't spoil it for those who don't know, watch and see for yourself).
