5.0 out of 5 stars Wrestlemania 27 19 Jun 2011
Format:DVD
In this review (even though most people already know) I will try not to mention who won the matches, just incase you don't already know them. I also rated it on it's own rather than comparing it to other Wrestlemania events(17 was better in my opinion but this still gets 5 stars since i'm not comparing the two)

Disk one:

Disk one is most of the event. It starts off with The Rock coming out and cutting a promo about Wrestlemania, this goes on for about 20 minutes, it's decent to watch because the Rock is back at a Wrestlemania and he makes it feel big. It seems strange to kick off Wrestlemania with a promo but it works and The Rock gets the crowd ready.

World Heavyweight Championship match: Edge(c) vs. Alberto Del Rio

This is the first match of the night, the first time a world title match has ever opened Wrestlemania. Alberto won the biggest Royal Rumble in history so get's his Wrestlemania title match against Edge. Edge has Christian in his corner and Del Rio has Ricardo Rodriguez and Brodus Clay in his corner. In this match Alberto works over Edge's arm to set up for his cross arm breaker finisher. This is a good opening match between the two and luckily when the managers get involved in the match it's not that noticable and doesn't take away anything from the match, the match is quite short, but in the time we do get a very good match. After the match Edge and Christian damage Alberto Del Rio's car that he made his entrance in. We now know this was Edge's last ever match. But at the time nobody knew that it would be. 4/5

Cody Rhodes vs. rey Mysterio

The next match had a good story going into it, with Rey Mysterio's knee brace(That Cody exposed) injured Cody Rhode's face(that's why he's wearing the protective mask) and now Cody wants to do the same to Rey. Rey comes out to this match(like at the last few Wrestlemanias) wearing a unique costume, this time it's captain america(I think, i'm not too good with super heroes). This was another back and forth match, Cody Rhodes removed the knee brace of Rey Mysterio in this match to make sure he can't use it, and to take away Rey's ariel moves , Rhodes' mask is removed too and both play a part in how this match ends. 4/5

Kane, Big Show, Kofi Kingston and Santino Marrela vs The Corre(Wade Barrett, Ezekial Jackson, Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel)

Vladimir Koslov was originally meant to be in this match but was attacked by The Corre at WWE's fan axxess so Kingston takes his place. This is a very short match that lasts for less time than the entrances do. It's not that bad but is way to short to be considered good(I think the actual match is less than 2 minutes long) 1/5

Randy Orton vs CM Punk

Leading up to this match Randy Orton had taken out the New Nexus so that they couldn't interfere on behalf of Punk, and Punk had attacked Randy Orton's leg with a wrench, so that was injured going into this match. Orton started off in control of this match but that soon turned around when CM Punk kicked the steel steps into Orton's injured leg. CM Punk then worked on Orton's right knee which affected him throughout this match and also took away his signature punt(He went for it at one point in this match and just collapsed) Orton got in a few moves, out of desperation but when he went for his finisher Punk managed to get away at the last minute looking relieved. The match ended with a cool spot where CM Punk came off the top rope. 4.5/5

Michael Cole (With Jack Swagger) vs Jerry "The King" Lawler with Stone Cold Steve Austin as the Special Guest Referee

This is the worst match on the card and wasted a lot of time, for some reason everyone got their own seperate entrances(I can understand Stone Cold and the two competitors, but did Booker T and JR really need entrances to announce the match?) I was hoping this match would just be a quick beat down of Cole but with Swagger attacking Lawler Cole actually controlled the first part of the match(not great considering he isn't even a wrestler) The match ends eventually but the RAW GM then makes an announcement about the winner that annoys Stone Cold leading him to give Stone Cold stunners to Booker T and Josh Mathews. All of this took up about 30 minutes and really should have only lasted 10(including entrances) so other matches could have had longer. 0/5

The Undertaker vs Triple H

This match is no holds barred, triple H thinks the only thing he is left to do in wrestling is to break Undertaker's 18-0 undefeated streak. Both men(especially Triple H) have great entrances for this match. When it starts they go right after each other, this match is full of big full impact moves such as a amazing spinebuster through a table and Undertaker's signature dive over the top rope. Triple H does all he can to put down the Undertaker including chairshots to the head and hitting Undertaker with his own finishing move. The amount of punishment Undertaker was taking was amazing. This was a great match and something that shows how brutal this match was. One of the two didn't walk out after the match was over, and it was the man who won. 5/5

Disk two:

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Trish Stratus and John Morrison vs Dolph Ziggler and LayCool (Layla and Michelle McCool)

This match was another short one, I actually found it very fun to watch, but think if Cole/Lawler was kept shorter this match could've had more time, since as it is Morrison and Ziggler hardly got anything into this match. 2/5

WWE Championship match: The Miz(c) vs John Cena

The WWE did a really good job at building up The Miz to make him look on Cena's level so people would take this main event seriously(this time last year I wouldn't have thought The Miz would main event Wrestlemania) Alex Riley was in The Miz's corner. Both men had huge entrances with video packages leading up to them, Miz's one was especially good and got you ready for the match) This match strated of quite slowly but that isn't really a bad thing, It builds up over time, with both men getting alot of offense in, Cena looked beat up quite quickly in the match, but that made sense since The Miz had been attacking him week after week leading to this match. This matches only downfall I think, was the ending, the match ended with a double countout, and was then restarted by The Rock, This stopped the flow of the match since it took a while for it to be restarted and for Rock to annonce it. The Rock got involved in the ending to the restarted match. Other than the gap between the match being a draw to it being restarted this was a decent main event(I don't know why so many people don't like it) 4/5

Overall I loved this Wrestlemania, the matches were all great, apart from Micheal Cole's match (the tag match was too short to take anything away from the show) And it was definately a great event.

Extra Features(Disk two):

Edge and Alberto Del Rio's history-This is basically a highlight package for their feud

US Championship match- Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus(c)- this is a decent match with lumberjacks around the ring, up until the lumberjacks get involved, the match was then turned into a battle royal. It was okay but I think it would have been better to just have The original one on one match rather than a battle royal to get everyone involved, if they did it that way people would work harder to make sure they make the wrestlemania card.

Legendary moments- This is an hour and a half long feature which is basically a look at some legendary moments in wrestling history, it's hosted by John Cena the moments are:

-Steve Austin winning his first world title
-DX invading WCW
-Chris Jericho's arrival into the WWE
-The Rock's this is your life, with Mankind
-The Rock and Steve Austin at Wrestlemania 15
-Austin's beer truck
-Austin and Kurt Angle singing to Mr Mcmahon
-Highlights of TLC 2
-Highlights of some of The Rock's catchphrases
-Triple H's 2002 return
-9/11(11/9) Tribute
-John Cena's WWE debut
-Chris Jericho beating The Rock and Stone Cold in the same night
-Brock Lesnar superplexing Big Show and destroying the ring
-Kane unmasking
-John Cena winning his first WWE title
-Wrestlemania 23 and Vince McMahon being shaved bald
-Eddie Guerrero's championship celebration
-Hulk Hogan v The Rock
-Highlights of wrestlemania 21 and the money in the bank match
-Highlights of DX
-Rey Mysterio's Royal rumble performance(2006)
-John Cena returns
-Stone Cold entering the Hall of Fame
-Highlights of Undertaker v Shawn Michaels(Wrestlemania 25)
-Bret hart returning to WWE
-Shawn Michaels retirement
-Tribute to the Troops

Disk three:

Disk three is the Hall of Fame ceremony, It's good to see people being honored by the WWE such as Shawn Michaels, Road Warriors, Sunny, "Bullet" Bob Armstrong, Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Abdullah the Butcher(also Drew Carey for some unknown reason, but atleast he gets booed) It can drag at times but it's worth watching to see the legends, I think Shawn's induction was the best on here.

Overall I recommend this DVD as a great Wrestlemania and event.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK wrestlemania but not as good as last year 26 May 2011
Format:DVD
Wrestlemania 27

1. Edge vs Alberto Del Rio- World Heavyweight Championship Match

** Very surprised that wrestlemania's first match of the night was one of the main events i have to say it was a good title match but not wrestlemania quality but was never boring edge's last match as well unfortanately

2. Rey Mysterio vs Cody Rhodes

** At times very good but sum parts of the match were not great ok tho

3. Kofi Kingston, Santino, Kane and Big Show vs The Corre- 8 Man Tag Team Match

* OK match

4. Randy Orton vs CM Punk

*** Very good match enjoyable to watch

5. Micheal Cole vs Jerry Lawler Special Ref: Stone Cold

* I have to say ive seen some bad matches in my time but this is right up there it went on for ever it was way to long and very dull

6. Triple H vs The Undertaker

**** a excellent wrestlemania quality match, great wrestling and lots of brawling it had everything good length to match and was entertaining right though best match of night by a mile could be match of year canidate easily

7. Trish Stratus, Snooki and John Morrison vs Laycool and Dolph Ziggler

* Right place on card in my view just standard tag match

Format:Blu-ray
Now this Wrestlemania (WM 27) happened 1 year ago since im reviewing this today on the 24/03/12 and with Wrestlemania 28 Fast approaching i took my time to review this event that has been criticsed by alot of people and has been considered one of the worst wrestlemania's of all time but thats not true and i considered it to be one the great wrestlemania for a number of reasons which i will point later on.

Now i have this on Blu-ray and have the Live version recorded and ripped on to a blank DVD First i will point out the edits that WWE have made on the DVD/Blu-ray from the live version:

* Stone Cold finger gesturing at Michael Cole in the Michael Cole vs Jerry Lawler match has been edited.

* Triple H Metallica entrance theme has been edited and dubbed with some crappy in house WWE generic theme and Undertaker's theme Aint no Grave by Johnny Cash has also been dubbed and replaced by his original Theme and this is so blatant as the audio is not in sync with the dubbing of the themes i noticed this as i have the live version.

* The boos that were directed at Nicole 'Snooki' Pollizi when she made her entrance in the 6 man inter-gender tag team match has been edited and more cheers have been put in which is ridiculous as she was heavily booed WWE like to insult are intelligence where is the freedom to express ourselves!!

* John Cena entrance where he got booed quite heavily and when the qoir sang before his entrance which also they got booed quite heavily have been replaced with cheers which is shocking, they make out like john cena is loved when reality people hate his boring stale lifeless crap gimmick!!

* On disc 2 Triple H hall of fame speech about Shawn Michaels has been edited from 1 hour to half n hour which is disrespectful and a insult, they had enough time to put his speech in as the hall of fame originally ran for 4 hours and on the blu-ray it runs for 2 hours and 43 mins.
Luckly the rest of the hall of famers speech are in full.

Now thats out of the Way Lets get onto the show.

The Lovely and Gorgeous Keri Hilson sings America the Beautiful.

The Rock Opens Wrestlemania with a Promo which was unnecessary and wasted time which could have been given to the Bryan vs Sheamus match that was meant to be on the show originally but was moved to a dark match which is disgrace, i dont care if the rock had to say something to the crowd we all heard it before and wasn't needed this is a WRESTLING show not a PROMO show.

Edge vs Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship 4/5
Fantastic opener and Edge's last Match in WWE as he retired after the Event, one of the best Wrestlers of all time and deserving his place in the Hall of fame 2012.

Rey Mysterio vs Cody Rhodes 4/5
Really good match that should deserve more credit, Rhodes looked strong and was made to look like a star, Mysterio was fantastic aswell and put over Rhodes.
Underrated match in my opinion.

8 Man Tag Match The Corre vs The Big Show, Kane, Santino and Kofi Kingston 1/5
Nothing match, was over before it started waste of talent it was only 1 min long which is a disgrace, this match could have been really good with the wrestlers involved.

Randy Orton vs CM Punk 3/5
This is a way Overrated Match, its a good match dont get me wrong, but it had very slow start, quite standard middle part and a hot finish and awesome RKO by Orton on Punk a lot of people say this is the second best match of the night but it was just a standard match.

Jerry Lawler vs Michael Cole Special Guest Ref Stone Cold Steve Austin 2/5.
This was plain boring and lifeless, how this match was on the card and not bryan vs sheamus for the us title arhhhh at least make the match short but no WWE wanted to bore our brains out with this stinker, the only good parts were the involvement of Austin and the stunner he gave to booker t after the match and the return of JR in the Announcing position nothing else noteworthy.

No Holds Barred Undertaker vs Triple H 5/5
Now this is Match and a Half, Tied with the best match of the year in 2011 alongside Punk vs Cena Money in the bank 2011 in my opinion, this was amazing, one of the best matches of all time, they did everything, went for 29 mins, longest person to be in hells gate, steel chair shot to the face of the undertaker by hhh (which wasn't edited thankfully) and taker being carried off in a stretcher which was a first simply awesome.

6 Person Mixed Tag Team Match Morrison Snooki & Trish vs LayCool and Ziggler 3/5
Way 2 quick of a Match about 3 mins, Morrison and Dolph did nothing in this match hardly no involvement which was a shame, i quite liked the confrontation between trish and michelle mccool at the start, Snooki did ok and made me laugh which is something lol.

Main Event The Miz vs John Cena for the WWE Championship 4/5
I liked this main event, some dont and make out it to be the worst main event in Wrestlemania history which is false and dumb look at Wrestlemania 11 Bigelow vs Lawrence Taylor hey anyways this flowed nicely and the ending was awesome when rock gave the rock bottom to john cena and miz retained the title which was a relief as cena had won the title every mania since 21.

Total Event Rating 9/10 really good mania expect for 1 match that stank the building and looking forward to Mania 28 with Rock vs Cena and punk vs Jericho.

Blu-ray picture quality a 10/10 amazing and one of the best pictures on blu-ray around and the best by WWE So far.
Sound 8/10 for the dubbing of the themes and booing for cena and snooki rest is clear and hearable.
Extras 9/10 the hall of fame 2011 is fantastic, HBK pick of the bunch, amazing career well deserved :).
US Title Sheamus vs Bryan and Edge Del Rio History Video.
RAW Highlights March 29th and April 4th 2011 and full Smackdown April 1st 2011.

Picked this up for £8.99 in a 24hour deal could not go wrong with that.

Thanks.
