The Royal Rumble is suppose and is usually one of the greatest events of the year, it's always hyped up. However this year was a big dissapointment within that tradition.

ECW Championship Match
Christian vs. Ezekiel Jackson

This one was my favourite match of the night believe it or not as Jackson and Christian were a nice contrast in styles of athletics, some high risk and power. 10 minutes was a nice length to this, not letting it drag. There isn't much wrong with this one, although, I am a huge fan of pushing talent but I wonder if they should have got someone else, as Jackson felt abit out of place at times considering this was his first ppv match debut. On a side note, this was also the last ECW Championship Match on ppv.
7.5/10

United States Championship Match
The Miz vs. MVP

MVP was the no 1 contender weeks before this ppv but they never announced it so it seemed like a impromtu match, WWE may need to work on that. As for the match, the 2 have proved to be great athletes but this one seemed more of a Raw match than ppv quality.
6/10

WWE Championship Match
Sheamus vs. Randy Orton

Not only do I hate Sheamus being champion like that rather than busting himself for it like Hardy, Cena, Edge etc. but this match particular, I hate it that he was taking on a heel since he was a heel. Those matches are harder to get into as you dont know what to cheer for. Orton should have been in the rumble and Cena should have had his rematch atleast. I just couldn't get into this for that reason, and although the reason is justified, the dq ending spoilt it even more. Don't get me wrong there are some nice moves connected, but overall this isn't anything to write home about.
5/10

Women's Championship Match
Michelle McCool vs. Mickie James

This was a feel good segement where Mickie finally gets her revenge on all the fat jokes by beating Michelle in 20 seconds and then showering her and Layla with cake. Yeah it was a feel good moment so I did like it, but it's a little shame because Mickie is a tremendous athlete to show off.

6/10

World Heavyweight Championship Match
Undertaker vs. Rey Mysterio

Batista should have been added to continue the feud with Mysterio and Taker, and to be a contrast for Taker and Rey because atleast he's smaller than Taker for Rey to look more in shape with because Rey and Taker don't seem to really look well together. On saying that this was an impressive affair with lots of counters and Rey realistically proving he can go against the deadman.
7/10

Royal Rumble Match

This IS the biggest let down of the night, the Rumble you can usually relie on being match of the night but not this time. I'm so angry at WWE of how they booked this. I think there was one sequence lasting for about 15 minutes where there was more than 4 wrestlers in the ring at a time. I know Rumbles look clustered but no one was in this nearly enough. Most people lasted 2 minutes and that was it, they were eliminated. CM Punk should have lasted til the end because he was the star, show stealer tonight. And Beth Phoenix was a surprise and a nice moment too. Hardy lasted 17 seconds! Kofi, R-Truth, MVP, Miz, Swagger, Ziggler, Bourne, all these young talents lasted no time at all which was a disgrace. Edge was quite predictable but still a nice moment I'll admit and Shawn Michaels was of course great too. At 49 minutes this was a short Rumble too, which I wouldn't of cared for had this been booked more sufficiently. Ah, I'm so angry at this.

I think royal rumble 2010 was a strong event with some surprises which you would expect from the rumble these days and some good undercard matches along with a royal rumble that had some great talking points.
The undercard started well with the ecw champion christian going up against the powerful ezekiel jackson and i really liked this match , jackson put on a good performance and i liked how often he went for the pin, it shows desire to win.
The match with the miz and mvp for the us championship was added at last minute and felt like a raw match if im honest.
The match with wwe champion sheamus and challenger randy orton wasnt anything special but it had a significant ending for sure.
The world title match between the undertaker and rey mysterio certainly looked like a mismatch on paper but when has that ever bothered rey rey before. The match was very good if im honest.
The rumble itself brought up a few surprises and a very good run by shawn michaels who was determined to win it but you dont always get what you want.
Overall this was a sound event and worth getting id say.

I love the concept of Royal Rumble, it is one of my absolute favorite ppv's...but what a waste of time this year's rumble-ppv was. For starters: the commentators are so bad in this one, that one would think they are getting tired of their job and of each other.

Next, the World heavyweight championship match is so predictable, you can see that already when you read who vs who.

The WWE championship match is nothing more than okay, so are the undercard matches.

Then, the main event, the Royal Rumble match, which I hoped could take this ppv up to a higher level...sadly, it could NOT!
The only 2 shining moments are:
A (like always) brilliant HBK
and a surprise number 29 entrance.
Rest of the Rumble has average okay moments, but mostly boring segments, like Cm Punk talking and talking and talking.. zzzzzzzz

Buy only if you are a collector. Will not recommend this one, if you are a rookie to wrestling.
