Yet another entry in the Tagged Classics series, and it appears that Silver Vision are going all the way in re-releasing their entire vault of ancient WWF compilation tapes alongside the more popular pay-per-view double features on offer. For wrestling enthusiasts raised on the `superstars' of the 1988-1991 era, this at least gives us an exercise in nostalgia, allowing my generation of wrestling fans to once again enjoy those titles first viewed as Christmas and birthday gifts, or indeed to keep us out of trouble during rainy school holidays. And as any fan without access to the weekly TV shows knew back then, these tapes were a must-have.
US Rampage '91 kicks off with the cool-as-the-other-side-of-the-pillow Mr Perfect defending the Intercontinental Title against Davey-Boy Smith. Perfect certainly lost momentum during early 1991 (in his last few months as the Intercontinental champion) when he switched managers from Bobby Heenan to the useless `Coach' (for the younger fans out there, that's a bloke by the name of John Tolos, not Jonathan Coachman). This fact is certainly illustrated here, as during this bout his far-from-perfect manager lays into Davey-Boy with sixteen (count them) of the lamest stomps / kicks you've ever seen. An appearance by Bret Hart livens things up briefly, before the all-too-familiar non-finish prevalent in so many of these compliations rears its ugly head for the first, but sadly not the last, time.
From there, the steroids sure do fly in matches two and three, as Kerry Von Erich and The Warlord ponce around for seven minutes before Road Warrior Animal (flying solo here, presumably because his tag team partner Hawk was under the influence of alcohol or worse) goes up against Paul Roma, whose Power & Glory team-mate Hercules is at ringside.

i am thrilled to see that more of the wwe wrestling from yesteryear is beginning to surface on dvd. happy days.
it will be great to see old favourites like bret hart, ultimate warrior, legion of doom, ricky steamboat and many others on these dvds.
the 40 man battle royal from u.s rampage 1992 is the main highlight for me but there are other good matches on offer with bret vs. shawn micheals being amongst the best. the tag team encounter between the warrior and the undertaker vs. papa shango and the berzerker is good but a bit too short for my liking.
on u.s rampage 1991, animal from legion of doom (one of the toughest tag teams in the sport's history) taking on paul roma from power and glory, makes for an exciting match. other classic encounters are to be seen also.
