Whether you love him or hate him, no one can deny that John Cena is the biggest star of WWE today. He is exceptionally talented as a performer and I believe he doesn't get the respect he deserves as a wrestler. To me, Cena has shown that he can go with the best of them. The more I've seen him wrestle, the more of a fan I've become. I've enjoyed so many of his matches and consider him to be one of the best WWE Champions in history. So the time is right for a 3-disc set to be released.

When John Cena: My Life was first announced, I was excited and eager to own it. I was happy to have finally got it, and when I got home to watch it...I was hoping for a 3-disc set on par with WrestleMania releases and numerous legend DVDs. Unfortunately, what I had purchased was a DVD with many elements of great quality...balanced out by an equal number of unnecessary flaws.

Starting with the documentary, My Life shows what's both right and wrong with this whole set. The documentary covers the essentials we need to know about Cena and some of his best and most memorable career moments. His childhood, his getting into bodybuilding and wrestling, his early days in OVW, his debut in WWE, his metamorphosis into a hip-hop freestyle rapper, his great mikework, his classic feuds with JBL and Edge, the spinner championship belts, his unforgettable experience at ECW One Night Stand and times at WrestleMania, all make for excellent viewing. What's more, each moment is allocated the right amount of time.

But as mentioned earlier, there ARE flaws. And the first is such a major one that could EASILY have been avoided. Throughout the main documentary, there's absolutely no new interview footage with Cena himself. Frankly, that is such a rip-off.

3.0 out of 5 stars och 1 Jun 2009
By sean paul mccann VINE VOICE
john cena certainly splits the wrestling purists, while he has the vote of the kids, the adult wrestling fans either wish he would fall of the face of the earth or laud him as the saviour of the business we love so much.
Cena has had some journey in the WWE,his journey before it is interesting as well and this 3 discer, while rushed, gives a good account of the man that is john cena.
dicc one features a nicely wrapped 2 hour documentary that features plenty of back slapping from those around the man such as vincent mcmahon who has plenty of superlatives to throw cenas way.
disc two features just 6 matches which is odd but some of them are very good indeed, others are just a bit safe but the dvd also contains a few nice extras as well, disc three features episodes of cenas ask john cena internet show that reveal cena to have a macabre sense of humour. The dvd could have been targeted for the young but is rated '18' so the risk is there for the WWE,will it sell,im sure it will,i enjoyed it but feel his story is better told when he has laced his boots for the last time.

4.0 out of 5 stars My Life, John Cena, 3 Disc Set 10 Feb 2011
John Cena has to be one of the greatest wrestlers we have in the WWE, with this DVD giving you a behind the scene look on how John Cena lived the dream of becoming a WWE superstar.

The documentary gets a four star rating out of 5 ****/5 as it basically goes through everything that John Cena has accomplished in his life, though was disappointed that Cena didn't make any on camera contribution to the camera, though he does in the extras. We see contributions from Cena's own father, his brothers, college friends, Mr McMahon, Edge, Triple H and surprisingly JBL etc.

The match selections on disc 2 was good though I would have changed some of the matches that Cena chose. I did however enjoyed 3 matches which included, his match against JBL in a I Quit Match for the WWE Championship at Judgement Day 2005, his match against RVD at ECW One Night Stand 2006, where Cena got completely abused by the ECW fans and his match with Edge at Unforgiven 2006 which was done in a TLC match which was for the WWE Championship.

Overall I do recommend this DVD to all old and new Cena fans and learn some of the basics that you did not know about him. Though not a huge Cena myself but after watching this DVD :) I believe that Cena is the face and future of the WWE.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as I'd hoped 24 April 2013

The documentary was just a massive 'Let's give John a huge pat on the back'. I was surprised that he didn't really talk to camera considering it was "John Cena: My Life"

I did find his love of muscle cars rather interesting. I'm hoping to see him on an episode of Top Gear one day!!

The matches were fine.. but I thought that the 3rd disc of John's 5 questions webshow was a waste of time in my own opinion.
