3.0 out of 5 stars Capitol Punishment 2011 2 Sep 2011
On June 19 2011 the WWE produced their new pay-per-view Capitol Punishment, headlined by a surprising John Cena vs R-Truth for the WWE Championship and Randy Orton vs Christian III for the World Heavyweight Championship. Looking at the event on paper didn't look too good, but, I'll have to say, it passed my expectations.

We kick of the event with the 1,001st installment of the Dolph Ziggler/Kofi Kingston Saga. But, as always, these two put on a spectacular match, this time round for the WWE United States Championship. It was a good back-and-forth match with both Kingston and Ziggler creating oppertunities to take victory, only to fail. And of course, Vickie gets involved as well. Great match, certainly a pleasing way to open the event. ***

Next, Alex Riley vs The Miz. Now, I was so glad this match was going to happen, but, because we haven't been exposed to "A-Ry's" in-ring skills that much, I didn't know how to look at this match. But, it gave everything we wanted. Alex Riley kicking ass, The Miz kicking ass and a pretty decent match. Certainly not the best, but just good that Alex Riley has finally turned on The Awesome One. ***

Third, Alberto Del Rio vs The Big Show. The pre-match didn't make sense. Henry attacking The Big Show, helping Del Rio. OK. Match gets underway. Del Rio as usual puts on an A* performance, at least in my eyes, I find him one of the best in-ring in WWE today. The Big Show tries his best to keep up, but I feel his time has come for good matches that don't involve an "extreme" stipulation. But, they both tried. ***

Next, Wade Barrett vs Ezekiel Jackson for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. After Over The Limit, I wasn't too sure I wanted to see another match as I felt that one was terrible.

3.0 out of 5 stars A LITTLE PUNISHING TO WATCH 19 Sep 2011
By BAZ316
I didn't order this event on box office and it turns out i was right not to. It isn't so much awful, just really not great.
It gets off to a nice start with KOFI KINGSTON VS DOLPH ZIGGLER for the u.s. title, both men getting some impressive moments into the match, nothing to really grumble about,it's a fairly decent match.
Next up is ALEX RILEY who having had enough of the MIZ (i know how he feels) takes him on in a pretty decent showing,at least this match gives us a glimpse of what to expect from the now liked ALEX RILEY.
Then we have what's meant to be a bout between BIGSHOW and ALBERTO DEL RIO,but before the bell MARK HENRY attacks BIGSHOW and this leaves the eventual encounter with DEL RIO as being more of a BIGSHOW trying to fight whilst hurt showing,it's alright but not one to stay in the memory bank.
EZEKIEL JACKSON takes on WADE BARRETT for the i.c. title in a bit of a slow show filler, not good for a title match,i suppose there's a few good spots, but that's all.
Finally a really enjoyable match with REY MYSTERIO taking on C.M.PUNK,both wrestlers showing why they are so respected. A really impressive match from 2 of the top stars. I'd go as far as to say it's the best match of the event.
RANDY ORTON once again goes against CHRISTIAN in a world heavyweight title encounter, and as you'd expect from these 2,it's a decent match, not their best, but still enjoyable.
EVAN BOURNE takes his high flying skills to JACK SWAGGER,a fairly decent match, but just not the time both men need to really showcase their skills.
And so we have the final after a so so event,JOHN CENA gets his hands on R-TRUTH in an entertaining but not really anything impressive match that really doesn't last very long for a main event match for the WWE title.
