Why, oh why, oh why do programmers forget the most important part
of developing a game.....they have to play test it as well.
Now I don't know whether they are all used to the noisy
atmosphere in the pool halls in the U.S.A. but good old
snooker in the U.K. does like a quiet atmosphere for
the concentration of the players. Only once in 10 loadings
of the game did the crowd hush into an authentic quietness.
The rest of the time was as though it was the session interval
as all of them were making so much noise that it really
made me just eject the game from the console.
The game itself is really very good.
Oh.......apart from the fact that when
the ref declared a 'touching ball'
and I played away from it, he said 'FOUL AND A MISS'
Oh.......and the time that when
I broke off at the beginning
of the frame, the ball went around 3 cussions
and landed beautifully
on the rail deep in the baulk end, and...yes,
that voice again said 'FOUL AND A MISS'.
Commentary from such legends as Steve Davis
and the legendary John Virgo John Parrott,
but they are so good on the telly, why do they
read it like a script?
I just got to the point that I turned them off
in the options.
As snooker goes it really is good, but too many
foul strokes makes this fall short of the
last instalment. Maybe the next one will
tweak it back to the high standard that
this one should have been.
Slapped wrists you programmers and play testers.
