This is the long awaited follow-up album to 'Beautiful to be Alive'. 'Woman on Top' does not disappoint and should firmly establish Zoe Scott as an artist to be appreciated on both sides of the Atlantic.
'Eight Lovers....' sets the early tone to the album of up-tempo rock music. The tone is established further with 'Get it Somewhere Else' and the standout track 'Hard Habit', in which the track alone ought to be a commercial hit.
The artist has her roots in England and the listener is reminded of that with 'Chelsea Girl'. The album then tones down in tempo with tracks such as 'The Canyon' and 'Nita'.
'Woman on Top' is an antidote to the bombardment of female artists relying on the pop/r-n-b onslaught in the album and singles charts. Nothing against these genres, it's just that there's too much of it!!
Give this album a try. For me this has been a very pleasant surprise.
Peace.
