5.0 out of 5 stars A great product 18 Mar 2013

I have a computer in a remote part of my house where a hardwired network connection would be very difficult. I installed an AP at the closest possible location, and then tried accessing it with both a desktop and a laptop computer, with both internal wifi and also a USB adapter. Never could get a reliable connection, when it temporarily worked it was at a very low speed and would typically drop after a few minutes. When I went into the AP management software, the signal was "4%". Turning the computers to make sure the wireless antenna had the best possible line of sight did not change this.

I bought this unit, and problem completely solved. The connection is fast (160mb) and rock solid. It shows 4 and 5 bars in the computer and the AP management software reports the connection at "56%" and often higher. If you have a difficult connection and your time to fool with it is worth more than about $.50 an hour, just buy this unit and put the problems behind you.

Setup was quick and intuitive. I used the remote antenna to get the best possible placement. Instructions were simple but clear. A true 5-star product.

2.0 out of 5 stars Drivers Suck 25 Jun 2013

Bought this card with high hopes. After receiving the card, I downloaded the latest driver from Asus. After first install on a Windows 8 computer, BSOD, computer froze. Tried the drivers on a different system, Windows 7. Computer froze on the Windows 7 "Orb" screen just before reaching the desktop. After further research and other reviews on Newegg, this seems to be a common problem. Apparently the drives are not WHQL drivers(signed by Microsoft). I am returning this card until the drivers mature a little bit. This would have been nice with my new Asus AC router.

1.0 out of 5 stars Most powerful NIC I've ever used, solid 5 bars on both bands. 18 Feb 2013

I can finally use my Buffalo WZR-D1800h 802.11ac router. This router is very weak and I could not get more than 2 or3 bars in the next room, until ASUS came out with this amazing NIC. Using the provided ASUS software to connect to the router it adjusts the power of the PCE-AC66 to give you the best signal. I bought 2 of these one is at 80 and the other one works best at 100, you can adjust the power up to 200.

The dual band antenna with magnetic base, you can place just about anywhere. As far as I'm concerned this is the best Wi-Fi network card ever made! Using the above router I'm getting between 700-900mb transfer speed.

Thanks ASUS for making a superior product.

*** UPDATE *** This product died at exactly 8 months usage in a very cool case and A/C room!. ASUS needs to work on their very slow RMA website. I'm subtracting 4 stars or short life of this product. You would think with a big heat sink that it would have lasted a few years. I'm back to using my TP-Link 4800 wireless card.

*** update 2 *** It took 5 days to get an RMA from ASUS. Turn around time on RMA was about 10 days. The unit they sent me does not work the 5 band does not work at all and the 2.4 band gives me 1mb download and up 56k and 90 ping. Not acceptable! I'm not sure if it a windows 8.1 problem(I upgraded in the middle of RMA process) or poor quality control. So put my old Wireless card back in and the ASUS in my junk box. I've also added ASUS to companies that I will never buy again!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not quite perfect 31 July 2013

I have paired this with an ASUS Wireless AC router and get great speeds - over 700mbps connect speed. I haven't seen the 1.3 gbps connect speed, but realistically, nothing I do needs that speed. Running on Windows 7 with the driver that came with the card.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very, very happy! 20 Jun 2013

Upgraded from a three-year old DLink Gamer router and matching adapters to this and the ASUS ASUS RT-AC66U Dual-Band Wireless-AC1750 Gigabit Router.

Couldn't be happier. 5 bar coverage in every corner of my one-story house as well as out by the pool and in my detached workshop. Download speeds of 52 Mb/s and upload of 16 Mb/s.

Dropped almost $300 on the two pieces but I have to say it's worth it in terms of reliability of the network and the speed I'm getting.
